I had an old boyfriend who got hammered on Soju in S. Korea back in the late '80s. They were eating a big meal at a restaurant and kept tossing the stuff back. Since they were sitting on cushions on a very low bench, he didn't realize just how much it was affecting them. It was only when they stood up that he realized that the floor had developed a decided tilt.

And he is totally right about flavored Soju being too smooth for its own good. You can *easily* knock a bottle or two back without realizing just how much alcohol you're sucking down. It's like getting mugged by a wine cooler.

Being in the military I’ve heard stories of the unregulated soju. You never knew if you were gonna get a nice buzz or wake in an alley. They say the fastest way to make E-5 is to go to Korea as an E-6.

Soju is not unregulated. It is highly regulated. It just depends on the brand. Maybe you should learn Korean and stop being so ignorant. Also, Korea is not a third world country with unregulated industry. The U.S is more unregulated. Most American food products are unfit for the Korea market because the regulations are so low in the U.S.

Its the zoom in on the frayed dress shirt. The not understanding which episodes are greenscreened or not. The tilt-towards-stereotype attitude that he has that really sells this as a unique one of a kind comedy. Nobody will ever do anything like PVIII ever again, regardless of how you feel about it. I'd had Soju in South Korea and the Philippines when I was in the Marines, but coming back Stateside it wasn't in the shops, so I didn't have it again for a long time. Then I married a Korean. Now it's always to hand. LOVE IT, and it's spoiled this former USSR citizen from drinking wodka! So tasty and SO versatile. Drinking the plain, the flavoured, all good. You can add things like Ume soda to the plain - or the fruit Torani syrups & it's awesome. Add it to bad beer to make a VERY drinkable concoction called a Somaek. Also makes a tremendous Bloody Mary the morning after too many Titanic Somaeks LOL Soju is dangerous because it's a "stealth drink" - it tastes so good and it doesn't taste alcoholly, so you forget that most Sojus have an ABV the same or higher than a fortified wine. Also... the flavoured ones tend to be REALLY good... and get better with each sip. And since I'm on a roll - PERFECT PARTY/BRUNCH COCKTAIL: 1/3 Plum or Lychee Soju. 1/3 Honey Syrup. 1/3 Lemon Juice (or Key Lime Juice)... you're WELCOME lol
