Ok. What hes saying inplane English is this . The knee can bend two ways one would be flexion of the hip by use of skeletal muscles which we can call active flexion. The second way is the use of the Earths Gravity . And that we can call pasive flexion . Put sinply just collapse your knees let them bend with gravety , free fall in that way you will gain speed power and not be too stiff for your next move it will take pratice you will not fall get that thought out of your mind.this applys to the first move in kata empy and the drop round kicks also just relax and fall realx your knees and more so relax your mind lol

He uses the word "hips", but he's really talking about opening the kua (Chinese). It's fundamental in Taijiquan. He understands the difference between internal and external movement.

I was wondering the same thing. All over the world children lack the ability to concentrate for even a short time. Once upon a time Japanese children were amazing at 'looking interested'. But even they have joined the malaise of western children. Not all but some.
