Met my first love and soul mate at 14, the most deep hearted, intelligent and thoughtful person i think i will ever meet. Lost him to suicide at 16 when we were in our senior year. Every 17th of may i cry like the night i found out and every 24th of January i sing happy birthday to him, in hopes he will listen, somehow. Im now 20, never been in love after that and, perhaps, never will be ( or at least not to the same level). I still think of him everyday and my heart breaks whenever someone mention his name, even if they are not referring to him. Love is the most beautiful and dangerous road. My grandmother is 76 now, she is my best friend and sometimes she talks about her first love and cry, im the only on she trust to talk about him. I see in her eyes how much she regrets not living her life by his side. She had an arrengement marriage, had 2 kids and live her life with someone she didn't love. All because of her family who didn't accept her being with someone who wasn't japanese and made her move away from him and married someone else. She is the most gentle soul I know and I wish I could find him just to make her happy. Has been almost 50 years now and she cries every time she talks about him. Someday I will write about them. I relate to her more that I want do admit, maybe thats why I understand her more then anyone else.

No one can ever hold a candle to your first. This is beautiful and makes me cry! 😂 I grew up in the SW, and I found my heart there when I was 2... a little native boy of the area. We spent nearly every weekend together, and our bdays were 7 days apart... We were getting far too close. When we were in middle school we were split up and told to wait until I was 18... but 36 days before my 18th birthday my parents moved me away. He cried so hard that day... I've never seen that before. Been 15 years now, and I still cry sometimes. Things just didn't work out that way, but I wish him nothing but peace and happiness with endless love. He was my salvation in horrific times when I had no one else to turn to. And for that I will always be grateful.

It's almost 4am now, and I'm reading the comments while crying. The stories told here are so sad, and thinking about my 1st love is making me even more sad.. He was my classmate during high school, we were good friends and we even tried "the friends with benefits" thing for a while, I liked him for 2 years then I realized he was my 1st love, I've never believed in love until I met him tbh. Now I'm 18 years old, we're not in the same city anymore, I haven't seen him in almost a year, but we're still in constant touch, he have a gf and he told me that he loves her, it was so hurtful hearing the way he talks about her, but as hurt as I am, I'm still happy for him, even if it's not with me. Nah, this is what the "Love of your life" feels like, but "First love" is different. I had both, and my "First love" I told her Today (after 14 years, she had always been. That's why I'm here because I showed her this song). I will never forget her. We were 19 and 16. (I'm 33 now). It took me 8 years to overcome her, when I met my "Love of my life" at 27, and lasted 3-4 years, and she is the most incredible woman I ever met. After other 10 girfriends maybe. But my "First Love", was so special too and different! We were kids.

What you mentioned is "Real love", not "First love".. Tho, maybe he was your "First love" too. But for many of us, we had a "First Love" that was indeed probably our first person to have sex with, or first kiss, or for some they even never kissed. Read other stories. In my case she was my third to have sex, but I was his first guy to have sex with, what I know totally marked me more than her. Because she was (and still is) super beautiful. Although, I showed her the song this morning, I won't even respond to her anymore. I really just would like to be with my "Love of my life" someday again. It reminds me my first love (of course). Impossible love, but I loved him. He loved me. We didn't date, but still that it was real. He disapeared really suddenly, the last time I saw him, I was in the tramway, he was on the gate. I saw him through the window, he saw me through the air, we stared at each other, smiled too. And it was the very last time I saw his blue eyes and his dimples. He was the most handsome and cute and charismatic man I ever met. So interesting, artsy, and so on. Then, I cried for long minutes when i realised that it was the end. I didn't want to realise it. I was sad, I cried, I couldn't forget him and his glance and the beautiful smiles we shared. And you know what? I was right. I will never forget him. Never. I will never replace him neither. Don't try to replace the person or to forget them. This is useless cause that's basically impossible. Just know that, if it ended, that's just because it had to and that person was in your life for enough time. Keep the good memories, keep that person in your heart. But know that it's not the end of the world. And when you think that you will never find better, you are probably wrong. Just open your heart, let people in and accept that you will meet someone even better, that you will live something stronger with that new person. And maybe this time, it will be the one of your life.

Reminds me of my first girlfriend. We grew up and moved on and settled down in our own different worlds. Both in good relationships for years. And we never spoke again. 30 +yrs later out of the blue she invites me to her Wedding , saying it would be great to see me. Unfortunately I couldn’t go as I had recently lost my wife and I was looking after my kids. .A few weeks later she put a post up saying she was feeling a bit low. I said things could be worse and get well soon. she laughed and said yeah. 2 weeks later she passed away with Cancer. Regret not going to her Wedding. It was nice of her to think of me .But I have great memories of our childhood together.
