This is the long awaited Maiden voyage of the Orange Crush Solar 470 Super Jet with the Yamaha F40 Jet motor. The day was absolutely beautiful and the lake was very busy. After the initial launching the motor was a little hard to start, with the fuel line being about 20 feet long it was a chore to get fuel to the engine. But after some persistent pumping it was primed and then shortly after was purring like a kitten. Then engine and the boat performed flawlessly and the fuel consumption was beyond my expectations. I put approximately three hours of running time on the engine this day with about one more day to go or maybe two before break in is complete. I hop expo like this video and thank you for watching, leave a comment in the comment section if you have any questions or ideas for the next video. How do you lift that motor? Yamaha is so heavy compared to tohatsu

Hi, I spend a lot of time working out lol. In my garage I use a chain hoist, so I can manage it myself. If I’m up north I mount the motor to the back of my quad and drive the quad in the water to mount it. But two guys can manage it for a short distance. It’s definitely heavier than I’d like it to be. Maybe one day I might see a Tohatsu in my future. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, take care my friend.

How are you getting so much speed out of a 30hp yamaha? I drove my mercury 25 jet on a 12’5” boat inflatable and didnt get near that

@bcextremeoutdoorsman Ай бұрын
@@rapstarD Hi, I’m not sure it just goes. Depends on the inflatable I guess. Mine is faster than some Stryker boats with mercury 60/40’s. It has took me a while to get it all dialed in, but I’m very happy with it. Thanks for watching and the comment.

@@rapstarD Yes I do have videos of me when I first took the boat out with the adjustable transom. You can find those in the Solar Boat Playlist.

When trying to start, specifically trying to pump the ball up, you were holding the bulb level. It will work 100 times better if you hold the bulb vertical with the motor side up. Nice looking rig.

Hi Steve and Frankie, I really like that Yamaha engine. In neutral you can hardly tell it’s even running. I heard they are very reliable as well, and the fuel consumption is a real bonus. Going to be a great hunting tool. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care my friend and great to hear from you again.

Beauty! Nice setup!!! I’ve been just getting my 420 Strela with a Yamaha 40/28 2 stroke setup the last couple weeks, they’re quite the boat! Loving it so far. I was having a fair bit of spray at the back at first but I’ve raised the motor and it’s been greatly reduced. Now the front lip of my jet foot is about 10mm above the top of the tunnel. I’ve got the motor on the second trim hole so the lip of the foot sticks over the tunnel a bit too. Has greatly reduced spray and it hasn’t sucked in air unless I’m doing a really tight turn and sliding badly so I’m very happy.

Hi Steve, they are great fun and should be a great tool for hunting. I think my motor is good and I shouldn’t have to adjust it. I can’t wait to see how it is in a River, that will be the true test. Mine also will cavitate if I do a real sharp turn. I still have a lot to learn, but it should be fun to learn. Good to hear you got yours running good. Thanks for watching and the comment have fun and be safe. Send me some pics of your set up, my email is in my channel description.

I would recommend getting your fuel tank to the rear of the boat. That would shorten your fuel line (which would make starting easier)as well as prevent the fuel tank from being launched out of the boat if you encounter a larger wave in a river. And for your safety PLEASE attach your safety cut off cord.

Hi Jeff, I put the fuel tank in the front of the boat to help distribute the weight. When I am hunting I think it will be better to have it closer to me, so I will likely get a shorter fuel line for that. I do have the fuel tank strapped down in the front so it can’t be launched out of the boat. Yes, you are correct I will use the safety cut off cord, I had nothing to attach it to that day. I’ll make a Velcro strap with a D ring that will go on my wrist. Thanks for watching, the comments and suggestions, take care.

Thats going to be a great moose hunting rig, Al I have a outboard motor support that I put on my heavy motor (25hp merc 4 stroke) , to trailer . It braces the bottom of the lower unit to the trailer . They are cheap and worth every penny .
