The space wolves legiones auxilla rule only works on reaction shooting, which generally isn't very threatening for SA as the tanks can't return fire

The interesting thing about the Alpha Legion, legions auxiliary rule is that you could conceivably use that rule to force your opponent to essentially skip their shooting phase for one unit if the auxiliary unit happens to be outside of the range of your opponent shooting weapons but still in LoS and within 12 inches of your alpha legion unit that was targeted, and the opponent fails their leadership test. That's a gotcha scenario, I am unsure if GW will address it, but hopefully, Alpha Legion players will be nice and let their opponents know this can happen.

Thanks for doing this mate, I'm planning on doing a sentinel heavy list. Want to have a lifeward unit with Marshall in an arvus with another unit to back them up in a arvus. It'll probably be rubbish but alot of fun. Would like to know your take on a sentinel heavy list as I'm not the best with lists and rules. Cheers 😊

I like these Legion Auxilia rules. None of them are game-breakingly good, and even though some are super situational to be almost useless, I’m glad that GW has entirely avoided the whole “re-roll 1s/all” mechanic that is still way too prevalent in 40K. And as a World Eater player who loves Solar but can’t commit to a whole army of them, these rules give me motivation to make a detachment, which I didn’t think I’d do before this book.

Ye mate agreed! Both on the rules and method of entry, not gonna lie I wasn’t enthused with the book reading the pre release reviews but I like how it’s been implemented tbh

As a thousand sons player called me excited, our rules are naff but hopefully these auxilia should help stem the tide of perils. Law wise there were lots of psychically potent people on prospero and everyone in some way was touched by what we know to be the warp, however not everyone could tap into it, it would have been nice to have access to a psych type character choice or give the marshel a power but we move.

how come no one talks about 30k custodes? are they that hated?

Theres two things going on in it tbh: Lore wise custodes aren't seen much (with notable exceptions) in the wider war, and obv get recalled to fight in the webway, so I think this puts some off Game wise they got a bad rap in Heresy 1 as they were seen as a bit easy mode as they had one of the only accesses to eternal warrior and had the only 3+ rerollable invuns, into heresy 2 I think thats carried on a bit tbh

New custodes rules are really bad thats why. Its simply not a fun and balanced army to play.

In your opinion, did Solar benefit from this reshaping into very legion-specific support formation as opposed to more of a focus on it working as a standalone army?

Someone at GW really hates plain humans. From the lore it makes sense that simple humans have no chance against astartes but it also makes the game rather one-sided....
