Got to say I really enjoy your videos and also it's great to see that you remain positive throughout your review, there's a lot of negativity about both this book and the mechanicum book and it can be easy to get swept away with that.

I don’t think the books are perfect, there’s a bunch that I’m not “happy” with but on lots of the stuff there’s tons I AM super happy with (doctrines/companions/command squads) I’ve completely lost interest in tournament play style games really so it just lets me play the army how it is, find bits I like and lean into the positives!

I've been thinking of house rules and one I came up with to help demolishers is that if you beat your target's AV by 5+ it's automatically wrecked.

Really excited for this army, I'm cautious to what I will add until after reading. I miss the ammo depot upgrade for the defense line as I loved the rotor cannons and the line. So good.

Just had my first game today: took a while to get used to stuff dropping like flies again but was really fun and the relentless pace of the advance kept me in the game

@@BearfootMiniatures in 7th edition I played IG as an Infantry heavy list, 90% feet on the ground. A few vehicles as I am a field artillery man but mostly Infantry. Over 200 models on the board and my opponents could kill two or three units but who cares I have more! Before I quit 8th I was close to 300! Conscripts were fun. Hopefully you'll have a few games online that can help me learn the new rules while I wait to get the codex.

Good review, much appreciated on day of release. I think you got close order a bit incorrect saying it doesn't always apply. It's the units sub type a d the wording seems to imply its always applys . If I'm wrong and it's optional please let me know, I want it to be that way lol.

Thanks mate! Was a rush but worth it for solar! My wording may have been unclear on close order: the unit type/coherency/-1 movement reaction does always apply What I was concerned about really was the ability to move over 3”, the wording is “may move up to half its move characteristic and make shooting attacks…” so you CAN move full you just won’t shoot asif stationary (but it allows you to move 6 when you want atleast)

Sorry for the ridiculous essay/rant comment, I am just pretty excited about Aux... Hmm, I cant find anywhere that states the max of a stat is 10. It used to be mentioned but I cannot find anything about it. I know its likely pretty rubbish but I want the surprise of the S6 2 shot blast pistols with the companions😅 I would say the Heavy Void Armour is an auto include to save you from being absolutely WRECKED by blast templates which are very usually AP4 these days and a +3 with a reroll can be a squadsaver. I feel Like the Ogryns could have used Brutal. Unfortunately from what I can tell, fliers can only fire 4 weapons at once so you can never use all the weapons on it at once. I feel like using the command tank with a flare shield and signum as a "Tank" tank so on average a squad of lascannons only ping a few hull points off it rather than possibly wrecking one or more, with the threat of massed multi laser return fire. I quite like the Vanquisher cannon for its 2 Twin linked (due to the co-ax autocannon) brutal 2 shots over the 4 lascannon shots for dreadnoughts. A cool thing with the Russ Terios is that if you have a tercio of one unit of Russes with Vanquishers/Lascannons, and a unit of volkite Assault Russes, marine Lascannon squads might think twice about shooting at them due to the pretty overwhelming return fire. On the Artillery 35 points for 6 Str6 twinlinked shots at BS4 is nothing to sniff at, 18 of them is only 630 points for pretty efficient shooting. I think its a bit of a cheek to ask for 10 points on the malcador for the lascannons when they are free on the Russ 😅 I cant see anything about the detonation rule being tied to the Cyclops at all TBH so it seems like it can charge whatever it wants, not that it matters. them only going at initiative 1 means they will never actually get to explode unless you charge a unit that is fully equipped with power fists, and no one will ever let it hit anything important anyway... I agree on the infernus, it used to be a terror, but it feels very limp now. I like to use the Knight Porphyron as a measuring stick on LoW units with its 4 twinlinked S10 AP2 large blasts, and the stormhammer just doesn't come close for just 150 points less. Thanks for pointing me towards Mini Mag trays too, I ordered a bunch for my marines and will be getting a bunch more when I start looking at my Solar Aux seriously again. 😄

Mate they’re all good points: - I’ve sadly just used the blast pistols wrong so they were underwhelming in me using them (wrong…) - the cyclops not charging is in the automated unit type I believe (can’t check my book tonight sadly it’s at the studio) - I just don’t know if the “tank” tank is worth it for the cost of the command thank sadly - will rethink the 3+, not many in my area are using blasts but it may change with solar entering the fray!

@@BearfootMiniatures Detonation is the rule for Melta-bombs. the Detcon equipment allows them to charge as normal so you could in theory use them to charge infantry, Not that you would...

Potentially: I’ve had a few changes to my thoughts on the list after a bunch of games now the mitigations for what I’d do to offset the weaknesses of the list I think is maybe a bit boring though haha Like there’s options for a “good” list but much more constrained IMO than a marine list which can be much more varied and still good

You said a few times that a tertio is limited to 3 squads. I can't find that in the book, have I missed something. Veletarus tertio says 0-1 command, 1-3 storm, 0-1 vanguard... So I think that tertio can have 5 squads.

At the top of the pages mate (so as an eg p88 first paragraph) “an auxilia infantry tercio may not include more than 3 units”

There are exceptions to the rule of three though, like the Ultramar Pattern Cohorts allowing up to 6 sections in a lasrifle tercio.

They should burn this book. This edition as a whole is just one big downgrade. The balance between units is atrocious, reactions are cool but terribly implemented. Regarding Solar Auxilia they lost basically everything. I dont understand how you can get excited by this low quality writing. Just a few pointers how terrible this book is: Where is the Carnodon tank, LD is reduced to militia level but units became more expensive, no longer Close formation (ws4 in cc), engineer auxilia missing, Medics only giving 6+ fnp, Rapiers moved to Heavy (which are the slots you need), Dracosian became 50+ more points! (should be 150pts with demolisher like a vindicator), Aurox transport no room for characters (why....), Arvus only 2HP and still 75pts, Lightning primaris 30 pts more then thunderbolt, lost bs4 and groundtracking augeries, Leman russ gravis lascannon is a typo, Assault Leman russes terrible weapons for 200pts, Malcador tank is more expensive then a landraider! and misses bombard rule (battle cannon / demolisher option wont work). Why is artillery bs 4 would make more sense on the tanks also 200pts... the special malcadors are useless, where are the baneblade variants? So this "solar auxilia" book made every solar auxilia unit useless and is now just a militia book with very expensive units.

I’m excited I get to play the army again mate: I like the doctrines I don’t like some of the stuff but it’s more overall game changes like the blasts and just tanks in general but that’s overall game not solar so I was braced for it - Medics fnp is useless I agree, the WS I’m not too arsed about tbh (though it’s a big nerf to combat output), the aurox I agree needs the extra capacity if everything else is -Lightenings needed a nerf and they got it too hard but they’re just caught in that -Carnodons I’ll wait to be annoyed till the legacies comes out - I agree on the annihilator feeling like a typo but it’s prob the right cost of a tank in this version with that many las (or around right compared to a HS squad)

@@BearfootMiniatures I just saw your video about the army your making. Looks great and I understand that you like it from that perspective. However I have a finished 5k solar auxilia army all FW that just got nerfed to unplayable junk, so sorry for the salt. I just expect much much better from a company, these books are ok if you have a 3d printer but for people that already invested a lot of money and time this is just pissing all over them.

@@3v3rhard mate it’s a valid opinion to have; and I get how it’s definitely a let down to some: part of doing these guides is actually from a feeling of how ACTUALLY can we make each work in there way I mean I’m someone who’s sat on a Valhalla militia army, (as well as my allied size of Elysians and am unsure how that’ll pan out, and I’m not big on my IW running away to shooting it really kills me every time they do)
