Solar backup power versus generator power backup with a little humor

You are right, There might be some humor in annoying viewers with that loud generator but was my bad to fall for it. you do have a nice solar system, it must have cost 2X of those Honda generators.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Actually the generator cost me about $1,500 at the time(Covid). The solar setup is very close to that - $1,200 for batteries, $150 for the controller and about $500 for the panel and inverter. So about $450 more but zero noise, zero fuel costs and no oil, air filters or plugs … plus I use that setup every day for 100% free electricity to provide shore power to the boat. Great ROI on the solar setup. Thanks again for the comment, all the best!

@@colinauld I am convinced a good solar system is a better investment than a Propane/gas powered $6000 Generac for homeowners.Gas or solar I still can not justify spending that much for occasional power failures, the last time we had one was 3 years ago, but I'm getting more and more interested in installing a decent solar backup power system.
