This is a movie that I put together using the pictures and video I took of the North American Solar Eclipse which took place on April 8th, 2024. The location was in Lac Megantic, Quebec which I selected because it was in the middle of the path of totality. There is also an astronomical observatory there. The pictures and video were taken through my digital SLR camera which was equiped with a 1:400 telephoto lens with an attached solar filter. I wanted to recreate the experience for myself, those who witnessed it as well as for those who were not fortunate enough to see it. Witnessing a total solar esclipse was an amazing and very humbling experience. Even though I thought I new what to expect, I was still blown away by it. Seeing a solid black circle surounded by wispy glowing streaks from the Sun's Corona was something to behold. It's such an odd appearance in the sky that you feel like you've been transported to another world. I think my reaction in the in the video sums up how I felt at the time. As well as me begging my wife to take her eclipse viewing glasses off so she can see this one in a life-time event. I hope you enjoy this video and that it brings back nice memories for those who were fortunate enough to witness it. Stay tuned to the very end of the video for a map of future solar eclipses.
