Solar Forecasting Automation

A Home Assistant automation to automatically change your battery settings based on the weather forecast for the next day.
This automation uses solar production forecasting data from the Solcast integration along with the Sunsynk/DEYE ESP32 integration to change the settings on the inverter.

@@SolarIntegrations I like the forecasting feature and has definite value but for me, in our area, things often don't come back after load shedding or something blows up or catches fire Murhpys Law it's always when I set the inverter to use the batteries in the evening. Plus we have AirBnB guests regularly so I like to keep the batteries topped up all the time using the grid charge feature but only in the evenings or cloudy forecast's for the day. Once again great content 💪

I set mine to make the API calls 2 hrs apart for the daylight hours

I did an automation in my latest video to restrict the API calls to just before I run the pool automation

The loadshedding level scenes and the solar forecast scenes shall battle till the very end. Scenes are not well suited to permutations. Low forecast + level 1 loadshedding... Whatever the last trigger was shall be the state on the inverter. Congrats your channel is doing well!

Thank you for the support @HeinzMeulke, I agree with you 100%. Not a good idea to try both at the same time. I don't think that the load shedding level automation is really that relevant if you are more than about 60% offgrid, at which point I think that the weather forecasts are more of an issue. You could probably do it in Node Red or maybe even an AI in the next few months the way things are going :-)

Hi thanks for the video. Quick question, how do one create that Bar graph you showed at @01:10 . What card did you use?

Those bar graphs were created +-2 years ago using influxDB and Grafana. I am pretty sure that you could so that now in Home Assistant using one of the addons. There is a similar graph in the kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpjaeZZ-qppof7M video. You would just need to track the forecast and actual production sensors in it.
