I'm north east of Pittsburgh

@@whistle3man That's funny, I grew up SE of Pitt. I'd recognize that accent anywhere.

@@David-fv7zg that's funny. It's cool your a local guy. It's funny when you don't think you have an accent... but you do.

Best to dry to 8-10%. Too dry causes cracks at the ends and wood becomes too brittle to use.

I don't think you are getting accurate reading on end of boards?? Please correct me if I'm wrong 🙂 I do like your kiln. I'm getting ready to build one.

You are correct and I think I did bring that up in a different video check the boards on the sides or the top or bottom and if you can even cut a board to get deeper in it's even better but you are correct

I just finished my kiln. Built it 14' long as you suggested and 12ft boards fit fine with walk around room.

I can't believe how many people use those cheap inaccurate moisture meters that they haven't a clue how to use
@whistle3man2 жыл бұрын
I have actually measured and weighed a board and then later after it's been drying weighed it again to calculate the amount of moisture. but that's a lot of work.

@@whistle3man the moisture content of that red oak logs near the end is not 18% I was in the commercial kiln industry for 30 years, and moisture meters can give an idea only, do you even know at what moisture content is Fibre saturation point?
