Please tell solar installers to stop lying. Solar won't work during rain or cloudy days. Panels will pick up just 20% energy but the inverters need at least 75% for the whole system to run..

What? Thats worth? Really?

It was not very cloudy 😂 the sun light time is still about 4-5 hours. Cloudy day should have no sun light at all. The power can significantly drop to about 5-7% of the rated power, which is about 8-11W 😂 the battery then will be probably charged to just about 20-25% for 14 hours. Well still not too bad then, but we should probably use a solar panel with double or triple power to make it good enough for even cloudy days.

This panel can put out close to 100 watts kzbin.infoUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

This was a perfect "real world test". Forget what the brochures say, this gives me a better idea of what it will REALLY do. Thanks for posting! I'm impressed, that you were able to get close to 550 watt hours within an overcast, rainy day like this. The panels actually did better, but, at that low rate of charge, the electronics and display screen take up a greater percentage of the total output of the panels. If the panels were connected directly to an MPPT, and then straight to the battery, you would have completed the charge about two hours sooner.

viewers keep in mind - the charging came mostly from moments of good sun - it’s still a solar panel, and needs sun. A day full of overcast will not charge. Why I love this panel (i own 2), 160 is on the larger side of foldable portable panels, and in part shade, the “wider net” helps capitalize on whatever sun is bleeding through clouds and fog. No panel produces 100% the rated power, but EcoFlow panels are among the top percentages. Their construction is also top notch - no fabric, stitching, glue, etc - is one solid laminated sheet that’s water proof and extra durable. I wouldn’t own larger than 160, as this is the limit of maneuverability and handling. We own 2 x 160s we link in parallel. (Don’t forget to consider the max input power your device is capable of - this panel tops off around 120 for me.) Excellently produced video!
@lethaleefox6017 Жыл бұрын
I pushed a Goal Zero Nomad 50 panel to hit 50 watts using an added reflector made from Reflectix insulation to increase the light hitting the panel on a slightly overcast day. It got to the rated wattage with the reflector. Consider experimenting with reflective add on panels that are cheap to make.

For those wondering how long it takes to charge up, I am charging my EcoFlow 1800 as I watch this video (it popped up randomly). My 1800 was completely discharged this morning when I started charging it, at 8am. With the 160W panels (clear skies in southern Arizona), the best input I can get is about between 105W and 110W. It is now 2:30pm and it's charged up to about 57% capacity. I have been nursing the panels along all day, to get the best sun angle, and it still takes a while to charge up. This is the first time I have allowed the unit to go all the way to a complete discharge, so it looks like a 1.5 day adventure, maybe 2. Less sunlight would obviously take a lot longer. Fyi.
