Please turn on battery saver mode for day during solar charging. Please test it.

Solar is for keep your watch running not to charging its just for slow down power consumption.
@Baoran Жыл бұрын
It is about 150k lux per 1% of battery charge minus what the watch itself uses during that time. So if you leave the watch turned off in situation where it would get 150k lux it will gain 1% but less if the watch is turned on.

Another way to see the experiment is that, on that watch, the solar power does not recharge the battery. However, it helps to keep current battery charged for longer, which is still a positive. Perhaps, it needs longer time on Sun light, for better results. It is better than nothing.

How about the heat? Didn't the casing of the watch heated up too much?

Thanks for the test. If the fact that the battery charge increases when the clock is restarted is not an error, then it can be assumed that the clock is not programmatically configured to display an increase in battery charge. I would be interested to see another test in power saving mode, how much battery power will increase after daylight hours.

Perhaps in power-saving mode, you would have gained more. I personally used it by walking for 4-5 hours in the sun. However, it was draining. My model is the normal Fenix 7X

Bought my first solar instinct garmin a few months ago and this solar charging does not impress me. My previous watch, a solar casio rangeman, I have had for 4 years and charged it once. Its been sitting inside since garmins arrival, maybe 3 months and is still on max charge. Is this solar really worth the effort?
@wildaboutwatches2 жыл бұрын
I don't really know why they bother it barely has any impact at all. Marketing probably lol its a fab watch and the battery last forever in most instances just charge it up once a week or fortnight depending on use maybe even three weeks which for a smart watch is pretty much forever 😀

You need to know that Instinct its a very much advanced watch than the casio. It maybe looks similar but are very diff inside. The Instinct has a lot more sensors and functions that burn the battery out so the solar cant keep it alive for several months on like in the casio. But if you turn it off and put it under the sun like 6 hours the battery will go up 80% for sure.

sooo i think short summary: when the watch is switched off: +1.0% every 100k Lux when the watch is kept on without saving mode: +0.5% every 100k Lux

I still have to charge my Garmin Solar 6X from time to time!
@wildaboutwatches2 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely 💯 correct unfortunately the solar is only of limited use and power still needed to charge it every few weeks give or take

If you get an Instinct 2x in hand same test might be interesting. Thank you for the effort anyway. Very interesting video.

The instinct charges much more faster than this one ofc
@Bulldog21087 ай бұрын
I used to have the instinct 2x and around 160 thousand lux hours would add two days of battery life in real time, no need to turn it off and on agaiin

@@wildaboutwatches Maybe the last attempt should be with everything turned off. Even the watch itself if possible! 😅 Anyways, I already bought my Fenix 7x and I'm waiting for it to arrive, but I have to say that your videos are quite useful as they show all the various details that I'll inevitability have to learn to navigate through. So thanks! Cheers from Milan, Italy. 🇮🇹

The actual effect of solar power is almost zero. It's just comforting to have it. It will take at least six hours to get 2 per cent from solar heat. If you connect the charging cable, it only takes about two minutes. Hahahahahahaha Solar energy is really the best marketing tool.

Maybe on this model, but I own an Instinct 2 Solar and in 6 hours I get 80% battery charge while off.
