Solar powered Ammo box thing

Hey guys, This project is a power management organizer box thing for getting all my solar power and chargers grouped into one convenient carrying case box. It also happens to be that Ammo crates make excellent boxes for these types of projects!
The solar panel was purchased in conjunction with the solar controller about 5 years ago. It was sold by Renogy and its a 100W system. I think there are more advanced options available now but that is what I got and it actually still works well after all these years!

OfficialAsim actually you could take a class in CAD, but the programs are expensive. If you go the SketchUp's Design Studio it's not, and it works with 3D printing, routers and Laser machines. Next Electronics class for soldering.

The detail and finish you put to things is inspiring. I just hack stuff together and when it works i'm happy. You make projects a work of art. So thinking about this box, You might not want accidental switch offs when you're charging, so you might want to look into some NKK Lock switches M2023LL1W01 is the Manufacturer part number and Mouser carries them pretty cheaply. Love the Videos btw!

man I've been working on my solar generator thing for almost 2 years since inception, yours looks pretty badass though, I've been making mine from an old Makita box with everything inside it, plastic sucks but I'm looking for ruggedness, plan to use for camping, im rubbish at building a wiring diagram, any suggestions?

If you had a reserve battery for it, another nice little addition would be a little simplistic cup-style wind vane if it's constantly windy there. Keep the reserve battery trickle-charged at all times with weather. I know it would be pretty useful for where I live considering there's ALWAYS some form of wind blowing here, slow or fast.

PeterSripol How about this: a second ammo can with some LI-Ion battery packs inside and a through and through cooling setup (one fan blows in, another blows out) to keep the battery packs cool? just bring the two cans into the field along with the solar panel and hook them together!

I'm inclined to say "sure, why not, try it" but really it's hard to know without all the variables. Current draw? Skateboard geared or direct drive? Battery pack? Get a current meter and then start punching numbers. Easiest to use an online motor/battery/esc calculator.

You should make a small waterproof box with the solar panel as the roof and the converter and battery inside. Then have an opening, like a small panel, to plug your batteries in. Then the batteries will always be charged and less hassle!

I know thos video is 2 years old but please if you are going to use a metal receptacle cover mount the plug ground side up so if the screw would come out or the for any other reason the cover would fall when something is plugged in it won't short out on the plug prongs
