I have been watching your videos for a while now, as I own a Sadler 34 as well. I don’t wish to appear negative, but your autopilot is one of the most important bits of a solo sailors boat. There’s no way you’re going to cross the Atlantic with that. It’s to underpowered for the boat, and the battery tiny, solar or not. You need something more like a Raymarine ST4000, or the simrad equivalent, connected to the biggest battery bank you can fit. Even with this you will struggle for power, so you really need to be looking at a windvane. Enjoying the channel

@@redsnappersadler34 Hi Red Snapper I had this exact conversation with a friend of mine here in the marina. Definitely need a wind vane and it’s in the book on the list now, I’m hoping one turns up in the skip along with a wind charger 😂 Thx for watching my vids yours are great I appreciate it 😄⛵️

@ Glad to hear you took the comment as constructive criticism. Yes, you really do need a windvane! I have a windpilot Pacific, and it steers very well. One other tip, you can increase your domestic battery capacity by putting a small agm start battery in the locker on the port side of the engine, under the fridge, and using the whole of the battery locker for the domestic supply. A Blue Sea add a battery kit keeps the wiring simple too. Good luck with trip

@@redsnappersadler34 That’s wry helpful thx, especially as it was on my mind using the batteries on the domestic supply and also as motor. Splitting it makes total sense and also because if the domestic did discharge I know I can still start the motor. I’ll have a day on this soon the main thing will be tracing the domestic supply wires. Have a fab day thx again 😄
