I agree with your summary. I love Mamamoo a lot, all of them. But I appreciate Solar the most, she's my bias. Wheein and Hwasa are both so good just from raw talent alone, and Solar having to make that effort and hardwork to become the vocalist that she is, is much more endearing to me. She wasn't born with the ease of using her raw talent unlike W and H, but works harder than any of them to be able to show us her best. Now, that's something.

I don't know who is better than whom. But I always like to listen wheein's voice. Her voice is really refreshing to me. I always listen her voice and songs all the day without tired. I don't know why but I always like to hear her voice. For me she is the best singer that I want. I like her techniques even her voice become nasality I like it.

Wheein is still awesome and talented but if you see their recent solo works and osts of both Solar and Wheein you can tell that Solar's vocal techniques and versatility have increased drastically in comparison to Wheein which have...kinda gone down.

@@mini_mnm_mxcho__hint9156 Wheein started singing more breathy/airy vocals for her r&b solo and feats so she lost technique to hit high notes and have clear vocals. she is talented but in the clips of Destiny and some others in the video i mentioned she is really struggling to hit the high notes. and the thing is that she's not just a soloist to not sing high notes. she's also a member of Mamamoo and their songs have high notes that she has to sing. what will happen when they start doing lives and people notice her struggling? Heize is also doing r&b but has clear vocals so it doesn't ruin her singing. Wheein should have gone for clear vocals like Heize.

Thanks for making the video for education purpose. I am confused by a lot of inconsistent reactions, comments, and analysis made by amatuers, fans, and vocal coachs. I found that even vocal coachs have their own preferences about "singing healthy" and techniques. The sad thing is that there is a lot of false information and some people tend to use it to against other singers in order to promote their favorites (why can't we just admit that we are bias and music is about preference?). I am simply bias to Solar's voice as it could hit my soft spots easily, no idea why. Her voices in high notes and her beltings are so clean, rich, and powerful. It is not about loudness but about the resonance and penetration that hit my ears and my heart. Every time I hear her belting in high notes (ex. I miss you) or even just a first sound in her sentence in high note (ex. Where Are You), I have to hold my breath to enjoy it as it is so strong and beautiful. For me, both singers are great and they are even better when they sing together in Mamamoo's songs.

I'm certainly no expert & have never claimed to be, but like most, I know what I like, appreciate and enjoy listening to on a regular basis. Technically, it seems to me that Hwasa, Wheein and Solar are all amazing vocalists with great range. Moonbyul is also very good and in many groups could be a lead or main vocalist, though her strength in Mamamoo is as a rapper and dancer. All that said, I simply love Wheein's voice so much, it's just so incredible & unique, so smooth & soothing, and for me, she has the most powerfully visceral voice to listen to in the music industry! I listen to her solos for hours on repeat!

OMG you are so smart and educated, years ago i would have probably got mad by this video when i was a follower of vocal technique in the youtube community, i used to be one of those idiots of the "she doesn't support, she doesn't resonate, her support doesn't past above B4, that's falsetto, she doesn't have head voice, wheein is a better vocalist than solar"(i used to fight to death with people about who was better lol), lmaooo i was so cringy and dumb, i am singer so when i saw vocal teacher Sam Johnson on youtube calling us out, saying "support is a world that gets thrown out in youtube", i decided to go to vocal pages that was the not the kpop one, i got me some vocal pedagogy books and i started learning a lot about what is real vocal technique and how the voice works and training on my voice and i got so much better and now till this day i still see lots people and channels with the same vocal mentality as me in the past, and i still get so embarrassed by what i said, i was so wrong and uneducated lol I love mamamoo, solar and wheein are both tied cause they are both great vocalists, every vocal teacher would confirm it and agree that solar is a more effortless and resonant belter I thought it was impossible to find a vocal pedagogue making this videos, i stopped fighting and left my ignorance and delusion a long ago but it's almost impossible to wake up the stans in youtube and the funniest part is that they think they are right and start laughing and calling you "delusional" when it's all the opposite lol, many vocal teachers like sam and tristan had stopped with them so did i, it's impossible to delete this from youtube already lol, everyone believes that stupid shit thank you for this video boo!

There is a Taiwanese vocal coach who reacted to Solar practicing acapella cover of Beleiver in her channel (the video is in Mandarin Chinese). The coach pointed out that Solar's mixed voice is well-trained and she tends to use chest connection more consistently and there is another video explaining there is a range that singers can play around to sing the same notes by using more head connection or more chest connection. If a singer is well-trained, this range could start from the region of chest voice to the region of mixed voice, and then continously to the region of head voice without weired turning point or going to falsetto. There is no obvious turning points while Solar sings, meaning that her training of mixed voice is good and well-connected, and ther is no shoutness about pooling chest at least in that performance and also many other performances. Maybe there are some videos in her early career or in her bad days showing about shoutness but even I go back to see her singing "I will always love you" for her RBW casting in 2012 and her featuring in Geeks' "Wash away" in 2013, I found that she could already sing high notes and do belting properly with great volume (but she tried to hold back her volume a little bit for the later). No doubt that she keeps improving but saying that she does not know how to use head voice, or saying that she sounds chesty is not healthy, or saying that she only know how to shout, or saying loudness does not mean powerful to show her lacking good techniques is just too much for me. I am sure her belting is powerful not only the volume but also the excitement that I feel. I have been searching around for those inconsistent comments, reactions, and analysises to understand what is wrong with those false information but now I am tired and just want to enjoy the music.

The fact Wheein have better at technique, but Solar have powervocal that better than Wheein. But still at all Wheein is perfect, bcs her range, her healthy vocal, you can see when Wheein hit highnote, she even didnt move her neck, and still stable without force her voice to do highnote, and you should know her lower register even when she speaking, is lower than moonbyul. Moonbyul know it too and say that it is so low to Wheein. Wheein can do Whistle effortlessly too on Mamamoo song live, called Woohoo. Solar weakness is on her falsetto and headvoice, shes good, but Wheein is specialist for this. Even u ask whos the main vocal of Mamamoo? It is Wheein, u can see on MMMTV 1 eps 5, when Wheein practice, Moonbyul said "Uri main vocal", and you should know that line distribution of ALL OF MAMAMOO SONG is mostly Wheein dominating the most part.

I think there's really no main vocal in Mamamoo. Since you pointed out that Byul said Wheein is the main vocal, Byul also said in a recent Solarsido _(the part swap one that's basically a Moonbyulida x Solarsido collaboration)_ that Solar's a main vocal. I do agree that Wheein has the most lines tho, she supports the others well since she has this warm and soothing voice compared to the others which are... Idk how to describe it, more powerful/rounder/deeper voices, I think.

It's really fun to see different perspectives in vocal pedagogy and how different ways of evaluating vocalists really plays out how we all perceive them I've always thought that Solar was a full lyric, I'm not a professional at differentiating vocal fachs but I've never really thought of her a light lyric

It's also interesting how posture differs in dance and vocals. You pointed out something about Wheein's posture which isn't really an issue when she dances. In the opposite case, Solar is the one who suffers from a posture that causes stiffness in her body. A slight hunched shoulder and slightly bent back

However, it could also relate to her performance styles as some times we can hear that she looks intense in her posture but her sounds are consistent, stable, and unstrained. As for now, we see her sung Adrendaline live while sitting, and Where Are You Now at ease.

@@mamamoobestgroup4376 Not neccesarily, postures remain solely on how you feel comfortable with them but there are some really improper ones that do not help not even if you feel a bit comfortable with which are known as one of the enemies of singing technically wise, That's what i pointed out in solar's case, she always has a correct posture to resonate her notes and sing her powerful belted notes so there's no stiffness.
