I’m so thankful you were able to come up and help me hook up all the components and make me feel more comfortable with the system! I think this video will do a great service to help folks understand some of the things I was extremely nervous about and make them more comfortable setting up their system as well! I now have 2 refrigerators (small ones like you’d see in a dorm or something), the TV, a weather station readout and a few gadgets charging like my phone, etc. and it hardly uses any power at all! Loving it!

Soup can method like that is really the way to go, can never really get them perfect manually no matter unless you adjust them daily and just 3 times a year is all I adjust mine.

I move some of my panels a few times a year. For stationary I leave them at winter angle because I get more than enough sun in summer.

You're so knowledgeable on solar power! I wish you did house calls! Great video!

Thanks, I do have lots of vids and help people in solar forums.

Wonderful video. That's a beautiful setup Mr. Van has. I have all flexible panels myself. They are all different sizes and wattages bought on sale as I had the money over the past dozen or so years. I've stored them wrapped in blankets in a couple of closets so they wouldn't activate, produce power while not being setup. I'm going to wire most of the panels in parallel to avoid any bottlenecking. I might try wiring the largest ones in series to try it that way at some point. My largest panels claim to be 280 watts which will be interesting to see what they really put out. That's great that Mr. Van has more than one setup. If one setup goes down, he has the other one until a component can be replaced or an issue is fixed. Congratulations to Mr. Van and it's great to see friends and neighbors barter with each other which is a win win. 🙂

Thanks! I hope you can get your setup going soon.

@@solarcabin I hope so too. It's just been a lot of hard years, divorce, child custody and sabotage too by extended former family. You name it, it all happened. Just one of those things, it's just taking however long. I knew from the start it would take a long long time though. That's alright though, a piece of the puzzle gets added one day at a time.

There is a new horizontal wind generator that is supposed to be a game-changer.

Wish you would have showed us how the 5 panels were wired together.
@solarcabinАй бұрын
I wish I could too but those panels all have internal wiring and just two cables.

Yeah them battery cables especially with 12v, if you are drawing 3000watts that is 250 amps...low voltage systems do need thicker gauges.
@solarcabinАй бұрын
Yes, it takes some heavy gauge wire for anything over 1500 watts.
@leetaves9143Ай бұрын
thanks your right on, my new battery say 14.2 to 14.6 but aways goes down to 13.3 and will run the deep freeze and frig all night and only drop to 13 1 or 13 2 still using batt cables 4 gauge and1.0 gauge the inverter is 2500 watt a cheapy
@solarcabinАй бұрын
Sounds like a good system!

Do the USB ports on the inverter typically stay energized even when the inverter is turned off? Great video guys, thank you 👍

Usually, yes.
@throughmylens5127Ай бұрын
11:28 have you tried tinning the wires before putting them in the controller
@solarcabinАй бұрын
I haven't but you probably could. Max wire diameter for that controller s 8 gauge and it mashes the wire to hold it.

Like your friend, I've watched many videos and your setup and explanation is the best. How much did this setup cost?
@solarcabinАй бұрын
You can get tat set up for under $1000 and I would look at kits from Renogy or Eccoflow on Amazon.
@SundanceSerenityHideawayАй бұрын
I 100% agree! After all the research I did, I was so confused! LaMar’s explanation is absolutely the best!
@jimsteele7108Ай бұрын
Lamar, have you had to fire up your generator to charge your lithium batteries?
@solarcabinАй бұрын
Nope, I haven't used the genny for that at all since I expanded my system and went to all Lifepo4. Current system is 1.4kw solar and 800Ah of battery capacity.
