Thank you engineer Jess Gorter for this presentation! To find the azimuth we select an hour and draw a line from the center of the circle through the 'hour' until the circle extremity and measur the angle from the north in clockwise direction. You presented mybe better way (for me). To find the sun altitude we select an hour and draw an arc centred on the circle centre from time selected until the line with in the angle measurement. YOU OPEN EYES WITH YOURS MODEL POINT OF VIEW because modeling ( by using your aspect ) the landscape enviroment of arhitectual project will be proven to be a quite efficient and easily visualised!

Imagine a line going in the opposite direction of the shadow. The angle between north and that line going clockwise is the azimuth angle. Good video.

Sadly the solar azimuth does not help a child lost at the beach to find their parents. How would they find North ? Nope, rather use a reference to the front of life savers booth. Draw your reference arrow to it inside a tuna tin, starting from the center. Then draw an arrow towards the parents location. Let the child use sun shadow inside the tin to walk straight towards parent. No need for dangerous to kids GNOMENS. The lifeguard can provide further assistance when they see such child with a tin. Use a felt pen. Now you might not be able to navigate in rain weather, BUT THE CHILD WONT NEED TO SEE THAT SO CALLED NORTHERN PEAK AS A REFERENCE. REMEMBER A REFERENCE IS A REFERENCE AND DOES NOT HAVE TO BE TRUE NORTH.

It works perfectly on a flat Earth.

The horizon is a flat line and the altitude and azimuth angles are calculated based on that. The Earth is NOT flat :)
