A once beautiful little British car until the American Markets demanded that British Leyland were to fit huge ugly bumpers, raise the ride height, turn the exhaust tail pipe downwards etc, etc.....thus making this once beautiful looking car look like an American disater.

I had a 1972 MGB, loved it! I can't believe anyone would stick $25,000.00 in one of these ugly bumpers car! It seems like a waste of money, it only worth about $14,000 to someone that has never seen the older ones!

My dad had one and absolutely loved it and it's still sitting in my moms garage. Its not nearly as in beautiful condition as this one but still kept in very good condition other then the engine I am sure after sitting in there for almost 20 years I think its time I fixed it up and sell my Honda :)

They normally had twin su carburettors, this had a stromberg convertion. I used to have a mark 3 mgb roadster 1.8 had rostyle wheels. And works hard top. Chrome bumper not rubber but thats a nice one two. My one had the 18 v engine with overdrive gearbox. She is still around some where but in need or restoration looking at mot reports.

From Leo: The Asbestos heat shield that prevents the catalytic converter from melting the bottom of the carburetor is missing. It is important to have that. Lots of them burned to the ground as the electric fuel pump kept the fire going even after the engine stops. BTW, knock off wire wheels and hubs were not available in 1980.

Shes a beauty. I still cant get over the value for the buck. Classic for so little money invested. I have a really nice 77 and though I dont see many, if any around, youd thunk theyd be bigger bucks than they are. This car is immaculate and id like to know the price. The spare wheel is a ro style , but the car has wire wheels they are not the same or compatability. They won't fit together, you either have wire wheels or ro styles not both the hubs are different. I had both on two different vehicles?

Astute observation. And if this is a true 1980 it would have been an LE and the wheels are completely different. This car is not MINT it is highly modified and it seems to be all about the cosmetics. The previous owner was a fool to dump $25 K in an RBB.

@cavanhare6970
@cavanhare6970 5 жыл бұрын
The three windshield wipers were to comply with the US import standards stating a certain percentage of the windscreen must be cleared with wipers. A couple of other examples of this are the rubber bumpers for 5 mph crash regulations, the modified exhaust tailpipe, and the raised ride height in order to shortcut the headlight ground clearance standards.

P.S. Trash that stereo crap. I had 4 of these and put over 140,000 miles on each of them. Loved my 1968 and 1972 MGs the best. If the engine hasn't been updated to burn unleaded fuel, you must use a lead substitute or your engine will crap out on you.
