Why Ford gave up their 351 (5.7) in the Crown Vics is beyond me. They moved to a weak 4.6L with less than 200hp 😑 But the old Crown Vics and Grand Marquis are incredible. I love ALL old cars. Ive been on a GM binge lately though.

@@Twitch_Moderator I think that the later ones are ok. Speaking from experience having a 2011 it’s at no lack of power at just over 200k miles and still is all smooth after not even being babied very much. The 4.6 itself seems dead reliable and has good power for the later model years like I’d said. However, it just doesn’t seem to fit the hype like you may think. I just think the 5.7 caprices were also great cars all around, and felt better. There’s just something missing about the later panthers.
@balkanca4 жыл бұрын
What a brilliant example of the old whale body Caprices. Still remember when these first came out in ’91. Wasn’t quite sure what to make of the design back then, but it sure felt roomier on the inside than the ’77-’90 it replaced. The driver’s side airbag was quite the thing, as was ABS. When the fender skirts were done away with in ’93, that made quite a difference in appearance. Then in ’94 the interior was designed, as were the rear tail lights IIRC, and of course, the infamous LT1 was now an option. In ‘95, the door mirrors were made foldable and window sail mounted. They also redesigned the glass on the C pillar and the car started looking “nicer” IMO. Memories of the RWD B-Bodies have always been that distinctive exhaust note at idle for the 5.0L/5.7L models, the “ticking” column shifter whenever you switched between gears and this enormous seats that literally hugged you. Optispark issues aside, the LT1 was a blast at WOT.

This is literally identical to the 95 4.3L I bought in 2011, mine had 80k and leather not cloth. Drove it for 4 years, ended up installing 100 spokes and a 2 pump hydraulic setup. Car was t-boned by a coworker in the work parking lot (she turned out to be a pill popper). Insurance totaled it and gave me $3000 for a car I paid $1400 for, only had 150k on it. I could have bought it back from insurance for $300 but Maryland requires cars with a salvage title to go thru state inspection by state police and since I had hydraulics it would have never passed, ended up trading up to a dark adriatic blue 94 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.

This was my first car. Same color and features, only difference was my interior was gray. My dad had a friend whose grandmother died and needed to sell it. It was garage kept and only had a minor case of bumper rash otherwise practically as nice as this one, with only half the miles. I was 16 and my dad pulled up one Sunday in it and told me it was gonna be my first car. My initial reaction was pretty typical of a teenager new to the road, “that’s some sort of granny grocery getter, what an ugly heap.” It didn’t take long for me to fall in love, it was pretty obvious how special that car was. Sentimental value and nostalgia aside. Now I look back grateful at being able to experience one of the last great American sedans. I still think about that car often, and wish I never sold it. Fun fact, I got my license the summer of 2008… $100 to fill up that 22.5 gallon tank 😂
