Mexiko is amazing but its gotten so expensive…. Big cities like Tijuana, Guadalajara and CDMX are way more expensive now than Medellin. I have been to Medellin and would say its at least 30% cheaper. Usa forget about it 😅

Yes....do NOT buy in Colombia after you have lived here for at least 2 years. NEVER purchase sobre planos unless you know 100% it is solid...and that is extremely difficult to find.

It's funny to hear people talk about Medellín like they talk about Ibiza, Barcelona, Lisboa, Dubrovnik, Miami, and all these popular places It's still a dangerous city with lots of crime, where narcos have a strong foothold Not to mention the lazy police and growing contempt for foreigners

Do NOT purchase in Colombia until you've lived here for at least 2 years. AirBnBs are being banned in several cities in Colombia. Places will stay on the market for many months and/or years before they will finally sell...so renting is difficult too. The ROI is very low, and tenents have a lot of 'rights' that make it difficult for the owner. If any damage is done, you will NOT get your money back...even if you have insurance, it will take years. This is not as easy as Medellin Buzz is talking about. Highly doubt he only paid $80k for an apartment in Poblado...one of the most popular areas in Medellin.

You can either up your budget or apply for a different type of visa, like the student visa. I advise talking to a visa attorney.

Yes there is, for the rest of the amount you open an investment account in a fiduciary and invest the money at 11% yearly interest. The government takes the investment there into account for the visa process.
