I absolutely love this boat. It so reminds me of my first decent sized boat. Everything about it looks similar. My fondest life memories are from years spent on her. It felt so much bigger than 38' due to the beam. I am looking forward to getting back to Florida after years in the UK. This video affirmed my decision to get back there. Many thanks for the lovely review. This one has probably already sold. What a diamond. 🥂

Glad you enjoyed it 😎 The last boat my Dad owned was a 1982 Princess 38 and this one brought back a lot of fond memories. This particular boat is still for sale as I only filmed it on Friday, but I'd be willing to bet it sells quickly 😉

Hey, the boat has had some interest, but we do not have a buyer just yet. If you'd like more info, I would be happy to assist!

Don't be fooled by the (bad) Bayliner name. In the '80's and '90's they outsourced the hulls for these bigger boats and they were solid glass (no cores), the engines and equipment were standard marine quality. In 2000 I bought an '86 39ft cockpit/flybridge that was re-fitted with 2 Cummin's 5.9 turbo- aftercooled and took it to Turks an Caicos. Cruised at 18-20 knots - no problems and used inTCI for about 16 years.

I've been on many Bayliners over the years, got to know owners of them etc, and always felt the bashing their names gets to be over exaggerated. Your example sounds like the perfect floating vacation home for cruising the islands 😎

Bayliner’s we’re never high on my list of boats to buy, they never made the list actually, but at this price it’s worth considering as a live a board or dock queen doing infrequent location transitions. I’ve spent allot of hours underway aboard a friend’s Bayliner in some very nautically nasty days and the boat always performed as it should. Bayliner did have a very poor production reputation for a number of years and once that became known depreciation and poor resale ability got locked in. But this boat’s been through that cycle and as long as you have a full professional survey done I would look at this boat…as it “appears” to have been well cared for & it’s allot of boat for the price.
@GarnockReviews11 ай бұрын
Thanks, Tom, and I agree 100%. She would make a great budget liveaboard or a boat for enjoying weekends and vacations aboard. I also agree that a good survey and engine inspection should help squash any concerns. At face value, it didn't appear to be anything major structurally or mechanically to make this one perfect. A couple of weekends with a good scrubbing, varnishing, and polishing, and you would have a totally different looking boat.

When I lived in Scotland, Bayliner had a nickname of Bin Liner. Weird thing is, i knew several people that owned Bayliners and would buy them time and time again. I personally would have no problem buying one if I had the time and money.

Nice walk around as always. I'd probably store the tender on the swim platform when underway (looks like it was at some stage), great cruising from the fly-bridge but not so great when weather turns quickly....fairly restricted view with tender up front. Nice to be able to store it up front though, when in a marina or other situation when it makes sense.
@GarnockReviews Жыл бұрын
I can understand your comment. I personally don't think there is a perfect answer for a tender. On the bow blocks the view, on the flybridge takes up space, on the stern normally blocks the bathing platform and transom access. I guess it's all about compromise and priorities 🤷

Brother in law designed and sold to Bayliner a device that measured the amount resin being sprayed while making hulls. Never been around one but heard many thin hulled stories. Trying to dock in strong winds a guy ran over to help pointed and yelled becareful its a bayliner. Are they thin hulled?

As far as I can tell, it's only cosmetic work that needs done. I'm not aware of any structural or mechanical work required. There are also service records onboard and the engines have less than 1500 hours on the clock.

Convection microwave = a item that should not exist. microwaves cook from the center of the food out with radiation. a convection oven is a conventional oven that uses ambient external heat to cook from the outside in, just with a noise making fan to blow the hot air around inside. if there are no regular heating elements in the convection microwave then all it is is and extra noisy microwave. btw, if you are cooking something like a roast chicken and want to use the microwave to heat up a cup of coffee that got cold, you are out of luck because some twit put a convection microwave in instead of 2 appliances, you screwed yourself over by accepting the idiocy as a good thing.

its not worth 50K.... bayliners are built by accountants, you better believe every single inch of that thing is equipped with the very least expensive materials and parts built by the lowest bidder. boats that are made in China are higher quality
@GarnockReviews Жыл бұрын
Regardless of make and model, I'd always recommend a good survey, sea trial, and mechanical inspection. That way the buyer knows what he is getting into. As to build quality, this one is over 30 years old. In most cases, any defects would have been addressed long before now 😉
