Simply fantastic. One of the shmup OSTs for the ages.

One of the greatest video game OSTs of all time, in my opinion. Working for the top score in the world in this game... I love it very much.

Thanks for the share !! Recording from the hardware renders more justice to this amazing soundtrack because the emulation from the ROM does not sound good at all.

11:23 Operation 4 might be the greatest song in the whole 16bit era. (yes I know technically the TG16 had an 8 bit cpu)

Interesting... You chose one of the few tracks composed by Ms. Makiko Tanifuji. In my opinion, in this game, her tracks, compared to Keita Hoshi's, are all implied with some degree of sorrowness, making them have a special taste. They feel like trying to tell a story... while Mr. Hoshi's tracks are more focusing on "dramatic battle" with an uplifting approach.

Those three are all osts that I want to upload at some point though Dungeon Explorer 1 and 2 don't have soundtests so they may be a challenge to record, but I'm definitely going to try since they are really good soundtracks.

@@randomvgms If I remember correctly, in Dungeon Explorer, enter DEBDE DEBDA as a passcode, then press RUN + I, then II. This should give you insane OP abilities, including infinite potions. Select the Bard character, and his black magic changes the BGM.

Hi I just wanted to ask about the Duo-R you use for capturing. I have a recapped Duo-R modded for RGB and it sounds very different from these uploads. I use HD Retrovision cables and I usually play games on their respected HuCard. Just curious thank you.

Hi sorry for the late reply. I have an RGB modded (but I'm pretty sure not recapped) Duo-R I bought from Ebay. I use an RGB Scart cable which I run through my OSSC and use the audio out on that to run into my audio mixer. I've also tested recording with a pair of composite cables and it sounds identical to running it through my OSSC. One other thing is that I use a Turbo Everdrive to play games since actual HuCards can be very expensive, athough I'll have to get some one day. Hope this helps!

This was a huge step back from Final Soldier. The Opening and Operation 1 are good. Then there is a lot of uninspiring music to swallow till the final fight. The first seconds of Operation 7 sound amazing too, really nice bass from a PC Engine which is often said to be impossible to go deep, but the rest of the track is meh again. Final Soldier on the other hand is excellent from track 1 to the end. All great an pumping energy in you play.

Are you high? Soldier Blade was not only the pinnacle of the Star Soldier series, it might be the singular best vertical shooter on HuCard format. And definitely one of the absolute best of the 16-bit generation. It took until 1993, but the TG-16 finally got a vertical shooter that rivaled anything on the Genesis or SNES in terms of graphics, presentation, gameplay and sound. Soldier Blade *really* brought it with the soundtrack. The only other vertical shooter on HuCard that comes close is Gunhed/Blazing Lazers, by none other than the legendary COMPILE.
