I've have told my family if there was a war and the draft was needed, I told my family that I would step in for my son. The reason for that is he is a special needs young man and this retired Navy Veteran will take his place instead. 💖

My oldest brother was a Lt in the Air Force. Got shot down in Vietnam with his RIO in their F-4 Phantom. I was just 8 years old at the time, but remember his smile, the way he talked, his walk, and the hug he gave me before he left. I have lived 48 years longer than he had a chance. He was a good brother, good man, good pilot. I still think of him and sometimes have dreams where he is there. My next older brother retired a Navy Cmdr. Pilot as well. We still drink to him, our Maj Gen father, on their birthdays. God help us all.

That's so cool. I wish all my brothers had someone to love and hug them like that. When I came home I was so sad because my fellow brotherhood of great men were still in Afghanistan and I felt so helpless. I lost my leg but my heart took the biggest hit. I couldn't hardly carry my gear as I entered the bus at LAX. I was alone and it seemed like I was not really welcome. I spent that first night in the bushes next to the last bus stop. I remember crying myself to sleep. When I woke up all my gear was gone as was my wallet. You made me cry. All of us don't have family like that but I think we all wish we did. I close my eyes and pretend I am the one getting those hugs. I'm so happy for you bro. God bless you.
