It is tough. I am a daughter of a Navy Vet. I missed years with my Dad while he was on tours of duty. He missed birthdays, Christmases, school plays and concerts, choir solos at church, and many important days of my life. I cried myself to sleep many nights worrying about his safety. I love my Dad and am proud of him for serving our country, but I would have rather had him home. Families serve right along with their soldiers and we make a lot of sacrifices too. We just don't get recognized for it. Thank you for your consideration.

@@everydaylifer2019 I didn't realize that this was a contest , I don't want be mean, but I do think a Dad is more important. I'm sorry about your cousin missing your graduation. My father served 25 years for our country, was in two wars and a police action, (Vietnam) , and he was gone more than he was home. We didn't have any facetime back then, and we could not call either. The only thing we had to live for was the next letter. It didn't make it any easier that the news constantly showed us the names of the dead every night along with horrific scenes from the war. But I'm sure you feel your graduation is more important. At least Dad made my Wedding.and was there when I gave him a grandson I named after him. Miss and always love you Dad. RIP. Back in 1965 or 66, my brother was serving in the Navy during the Viet Nam war, and I hadn't seen him for nearly a year, but his ship finally docked and he hitch hiked home and surprised us all. I'll never forget that feeling, but it was pretty much the same way this little boy felt. God bless them both.

I went in his room everyday to look up at heaven and pray for him to come home now my daughter came home to set up my hospice care serving overseas over 10 years. I burst out crying every time I see one of these videos. I remember the first time I saw my brother after he came home from Korea. I also remember how three of our young men who had been sent to Viet Nam came home. We weren't able to greet them like this. I guess that's why I like watching these heart warming stories so much.
