20 years retired and deployed 7 times, tow promises i never made to my wife or kids. 1)I never promised them i would come home alive. 2) I never told them I wasnt going back. Never make a promise you cant keep. I could only tell them I'd do my best to stay safe and tey to make it home. As for going back, we never discussed it until orders were given.
