Soldiers Again: Johnson, Holm, Sheppard

I first heard this song when I was on my spiritual journey in Minneapolis, MN. KTIS was the radio station that helped me get through some of, what I thought at that time, were the toughest times. Little did I know that the loss of our eldest child and my sister and my mother-in-law (who I loved dearly) was just around the corner. This song helped me then, and it is helping me now as I grieve the loss of my wife, Debra. Thank God for music.

God spoke to my heart the lyrics of this very song tonight. He reminded me that I am a soldier and to persevere to the end. It has been a long and hard fought battle as we enter 2021, but we must keep soldiering on! God bless America.

Oh you saw it! My post to John Cook? I knew 3 brothers whose mother I worked with in the 80's at a hospital. Her sons sound just like these guys and sang for yrs at the Oklahoma Opry! I saw them sing this song there and that's where I first heard it! PASS IT ON! BTW. That's another great song. " " "Pass it on."

There's another song by "The Piano Guys" called "The Fight Song" I think it's just music. Not sure if it has lyrics. It's Fab too! Pass It On was a Cantata our group sang at church in 1970 or early 71......

ChaplainK Thank you so much!! I ordered it from Amazon.com! I've looked for this album for years and couldn't remember the other singers (besides Dallas Holm, and couldn't remember the title!). So grateful! This was one of my favorite albums. SO sad it's not available new anymore.

ChaplainK Thank you but I already have the album on cassette. I just want to be able to find all the songs on You Tube, not only for posting to Facebook on occasion, but I can convert to MP3 from You Tube and then burn to CD. Otherwise, I don't currently have a way to take music from cassette to CD. Do you know how to take music from the cassette tape to You Tube? Thank you.

First I heard this song, it was an acapella quartet version with barbershop style harmony and that was incredible. It is incredible songwriting but compared to the cover versions I have heard, the original seems lacking in comparison. It's brilliant songwriting but less than stellar performance. If I had produced this, it would have been in a marching tempo, with military drums, like an anthem, with a much stronger masculine voice. Instead of being like an old man reflecting on his lost youth, it would be a song for young men with trumpets calling them to a war for Christ against the world. No vibrato. Maybe at some point, I will make that version happen.
