Welcome back guys. Andy here 😀 I’m flattered to be mentioned yet again. Great watch as always. I do chuckle when I see Dave R, cogs turning in his head, a wry smile comes over his face as he recalls some fact about the other Dave and then he casually recounts some story from the pas, priceless. I have been out quite a bit myself and not much rain to speak of so maybe the gods are smiling on me now. Happy days, off to check out that polish. Andy UK

@@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches Yes, mine too. My dad was born in Botley at the top of the Hamble, his parents ran the Post Office. My dad used to canoe down the river in a canvas fold up canoe which I still have. I rebuilt a 48’ wooden fishing boat that was in what was Moody’s yard right next to the Bursledon Bridge. My dad and I salvaged loads of boat gear from a wreck up the Hamble. It is where I used to race out of for many years, the Elephant and Jolly Sailor were second homes. Happy days, all changed now though.

Wow a 48’ rebuild is a huge project.

Dave and Dave , hi we are yacht Avalon ( Bavaria 37 Cruiser) , you may have seen her either in Gosport Premier Marina or in the Solent as she sails often being shared between three co-owners. Thanks for your advice on sailing into more shallow waters and fancy Wotton IOW ( mooring at the yacht club pontoon ) as a first try if tides allow on next sailing trips. Have you thought about competing Vlog wise against SV Delos, La Vagabond, Sailing Uma etc , all you need is an Aerial Camera Drone, storm chased mega mile voyages and bikinis all round !
@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, the thought of Dave in a bikini just put me off my supper. We shall keep a sharp eye out for Avalon. Dave used to be birthed at Gosport, may well have seen you around. Not really interested in millions of views just having fun and recording a few memories for our grandkids. Stay safe and see you on the water. Wootton is a nice lunch stop. Dave
@davidelias1543 жыл бұрын
Dave and Dave just found your ( funny ) Vlogs and plan to check out as many of your favourite watering holes as possible next year . We are not as brave as you guys heading in to shallow waters as find the Solent and destinations nearby no more than a puddle every time we head out ! So we will head for the nearest pontoon , jetty or mooring boy and hopefully see you there !
@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, thanks for your comment. Please be brave. We all started out nervous of depth and rightly so but if you go in on a rising tide, stick to the windward side of the channel there really is nothing to fear. The tide will ALWAYS lift you off if you follow those two rules. Once you get used to it it is very rewarding, easy and you will find some very special anchorages. And save lots of marina costs. As you say, hopefully see you out there. Knock on the cabin roof if ever in Beaulieu. Dave

Well, you don't have a million views and I was worried that you had dropped out. I would just like to tell you that watching your vids is just like sailing with you. The information, destinations and the banter are real and very enjoyable. Thanks for putting the effort in for us. I am jealous of Andy , so next time could you lean across to me (in Japan) and say, "What do you reckon, Gary?" All the best gary

Why thank you Gary, not remotely interested in a million views, just enjoy leaving a momento for our grandkids of two old boys enjoying life. Will try to remember you in the next video.

OK then - Dave love those flashy new sunglasses ! Hopefully they float ! What was the brand of them,probably too expensive for me as I do not own a Barbour Gilet! They were Oakleys Fiona and he's had them ages. The glasses were old its the lenses that are new. It's the confusing way he tells stories at his age. :)

I too have a very oxidised blue hull. I must say that I had never considered putting industrial polish on it. I will await your polishing video with interest. I haven't been down the Hamble for about 30 years. The number of 'parked' boats seems to have at least doubled. I wonder what percentage of the UK's leisure craft are kept in that one river. There's almost no room left for the water.
@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunches4 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, you're not wrong about the volume of vessels in the Hamble. If they all chose to go sailing there would surely be no room to maneuvre in the Solent. Polishing video should be up later today. I think you will be impressed. When you planning to be back afloat?
@paulg90384 жыл бұрын
@@LeeShoresLazyJacksandLunchesBy the way, don't get me wrong, I'm planning for my daughter to do the polishing - I shall be supervising. Hopefully back afloat in the Spring. I've just starting to put more things back into the boat than I am taking out. There is no big hurry.
