Solgaard Carry-On Closet Review (2 Weeks of Use)

Thanks for the honest review! We value feedback from travelers like yourself. Regarding the space in the closer versus the space in the zippered compartment, because you filled your closet as much as you did, you won’t be able to also fill the zippered compartment. However, if you fill the closet with less bulky items, then you’ll have more space to pack in the zippered compartment. Our product doesn’t act as Mary Poppin’s bag and allow you to pack a check-in’s worth of clothes into a carry-on, but it does help you stay organized while you travel and make packing and unpacking much easier while on the road 🙃

I also have one- it’s nearly impossible to use one side if you put very much of anything in the closet side. I really thought this bag was designed to hold a lot of clothes, but it is very cumbersome to use, and I wish I had saw her review before purchasing…

The inside buckle is meant to allow the suitcase to stand vertically and have the closet hang from the case. It's not meant to be packed flat. Sorry, I love Solgaard and the main reason is the organization while on the go. If you can't close it, then you have packed too much. She also didn't use the shoe pockets in the flat, top, half of the case. They make it super easy to carry shoes. And you can get flat things in the top half and close it.

Agree, it would have been nice to show how much clothes it had packed inside - especially as it was pointed out that the flip-side storage was virtually unusable with all those clothes in it!

I got the original launch version, both the carry-on and the trunk. I like it, but they sure improved some areas with the new model. Agree with your pros and cons. Thanks for the review.

The hybrid is quite heavy but they have a lite version that is fully polycarbonate and has zippers instead of locks

I don’t understand why you didn’t show the hanging closet system. That’s the uniqueness of the suitcase! Disappointing review.

I don’t get the trend of all these hard-sided carry-ons. No exterior pockets pretty much forces you to carry ANOTHER bag for liquids and such. When I travel with a carry-on bag, I want to carry ONE BAG. Exterior pockets are a must. Also, I don’t need locks. It’s a carry-on, it’s with me ALL THE TIME. And I don’t need USB. All airports and planes have them. I need light weight and strength.

Any hard shell suitcase should definitely have a full length piano hinge and not just two hinges that far apart to handle that. I didn't stick around for the rest of the video. As soon as I saw those two cheap hinges I exited the video. Hopefully they don't want a lot of money for this thing because it seems like the components are fairly cheap and commonplace.

I'm not that impressed with this system. The organization seems to take up way too much room, maybe if I were moving hotels daily it would make sense but usually I'm in a hotel for a few days before moving on. That charging station though seems like a terrible design. I have an Away carryon and the charger is built into the suitcase and if /when i want to take it out I just push down and it pops out. It's nice because while sitting in the terminal I can leave it in my suitcase and charge from there but once on the plane I can throw my suitcase into overhead storage and pop it out once it's up there to have at my seat. This you have to open it up, possibly move things around to take it out. Not convenient. I never want to open my suitcase unless it's at the hotel or my house. I do like having it in my rolling suitcase though cause it moves weight to that instead of on my back.

Has wheels and uses to much aircraft storage bin space. The organization uses all the space. You need to stop promoting carry-on with wheels. Been 2 times had to gate check my normal carry-on because of karens with roller hard side carry-on that had to lay it side ways. Tempted to jerk the wheels off.

As far as I can tell, they aren't "promoting" wheeled luggage, they are just reviewing it. And, not everyone can or wants to lug a carryon sized backpack while travelling.
