Thanks for the review guys. I just ordered one of these to replace my RDX. Went for the top trim to get the 360 camera and head up display even though I prefer the look of the A-Spec. I wish they did the same thing as the new RDX where the top trim is still an A-Spec design, but alas. In any case, it’s a great car for the price and the running costs on Acuras are a lot more reasonable than their German counterparts.

Totally agree with the 360 camera. Acura's way of thinking here is truly mindboggling to me. They somehow believe that customers interested in top aesthetic/performance trim levels don't car about having a top spec model. A Spec shouldn't even be a trim level. It's an appearance package. A Spec should be an option package available on every trim level. Like what BMW does with M Sport packages being available on every model. The Type-S is even worse, as it has the same level of decontenting as the A-Spec, even though it sits at the top of the heap. I passed on a TLX Type-S due to it not having 360 cam. It's just too useful and borderline necessary feature given the way these newer cars are built.
@ghamrick81832 жыл бұрын
You’re expecting a $53,500 sport luxury sedan to have a 360 camera, when it already leads it’s class in standard features. They can’t overload it. Otherwise it’s price will be close to the 3 series and Acura knows they have to undercut other brands
@stephenpatterson80562 жыл бұрын
@Ghamrick81 Genesis would like a word... And a 360 camera setup would certainly not break the bank. They'd still be looking at like a $10k gap between equally equipped German models even if they bumped the price a bit to accommodate it. Either way it's a must in that car. I test drove one. Small cabin with low seating, huge exterior where you can't tell at all where the corners are. Plus the huge 20" wheels. RIP to those wheels the first time you try parallel parking the thing along a curb.
@dxcheong2 жыл бұрын
It’s mind boggling that they don’t do it. Like they could charge $2k for basically black plastic parts on any trim they want. It would be free money for them and I would 100% pay for it.

Nice review. I waiting for my Type S in about three week. The dealership is releasing one of the first ones they are getting. Will keep you posted. Looking forward to it. I will be one of the first to actually own the Type S in Canada. Wanted to order the Tiger Eye (Gold) with the Orchid interior with the Ultra package, but you can only get Tiger Eye in the standard Type S. So I went with the Red Performance Pearl, with the Ebony interior. In Canada our options for packages and colours are limited, you are considered a small market to the USA. Overall happy with my choose and many years of ownership.

We bought one of these right when they came out (feels like almost a year already). We shopped around a lot and were really wanting to go with the GV80, but we literally couldn't find the Prestige in the color combo we wanted on the entire east coast and the dealerships were not great to work with. We ended up with an MDX Advance (because of the 360 camera and better seats). It's ridiculous that you can't option what you want in terms of exterior and tech. The ideal MDX would be Advance tech with A-spec looks. It's shocking how good the SH-AWD is. It does not feel front biased and for as big as it is you can whip it around on the backroads and it feels much smaller. Its not overpowered, but it does not feel slow. That old Honda V6 will last forever. The biggest difference to me is the double wishbone suspension in the front; the handling blew me away....for what it is. The stereo is really good as well. The infotainment with the true touch controller makes me want to put my fist through the windshield more often then not. I f'ing hate it. It's literally the only thing that I hate about this vehicle....I can live with the piano black trim because we're all OCD clean freaks in my house. We've actually used it to haul some stuff from Home Depot and you can fit a full size storm door if you move the front seats up a bit....you know to where you feel like you are riding a 3 year old's tricycle. This was for the wife...I'm just not an SUV guy. It's a really good vehicle. I did not expect to like it as much as I do. The dealership was fantastic. I don't know if that was because we went through the Costco program, but we walked in and paid like $500 over dealer invoice and were in and out quickly with no drama or upselling of crap. We went in expecting to spend more money than we ended up having to. It's my first Acura product and it's not the ultimate luxury or performance vehicle, but I think that they really hit the sweet spot on quality, performance, comfort at a price point that makes it one of the better value propositions out there. Could things be better? Always. But what is the actual tangible benefit? Apart from that stupid touchpad I don't think that there is anything that could be better and provide something of use.
