Hi holly I was quite chuffed you decided to go with a Liberty kj . I live in the uk Cotswolds. I’ve had my uk version of the Liberty kj for 3 years now . Sadly she’s been off road fo4 a while ( mechanical issue + health issues ) . But I love my Jeep not the best one available but it’s mine . My health issues are getting better . Also I’m gradually working out her issues. She’s had new brakes all round . Hand / emergency brake now works . Abs working too (bad sensors) . No real engine issues she has the 2.8 crd . Any work on the diesel is a pain due to no space around it to work . Not the most fashionable jeep . But it’s my jeep . X 0:56

Love the liberty, but I think a full size JL would be better for dyi from bolt on parts available after watching you build two giveaway jeeps.
@walterfowler4720Ай бұрын
The JL is a nightmare to modify. Although bolt on may be easier. Ripping out the axles and suspension brackets from the frame and welding in all new suspension mounts and coilover conversion is a ton of work. Probably fairly close in terms of hours and difficulty. We estimated the JLs to be about 160-180 hours each. This was about 150 hours in labor.

@S.S.H.OCT.18-08Ай бұрын
Question? How much would you say the estimated value is for all the labor from the people that helped? I have watched alot of this build and there were some very talented people helping and that does add real cost to a project. Labor alone can be a huge expense. This is not meant to be a negative question just a general fyi for those who may consider a build but may have to hire some of it out. All those who participated in this build-off are very talented and have access to great resources. Watch all the channels.
@walterfowler4720Ай бұрын
I’d say it’s about 150-180 hours total. Depends on how quick you weld/grind/cut and what tools you have. For example, we ended up cutting a ton of things by hand since we don’t have a CNC Plasma Table. Doing this on the ground (no lift) and with simple garage tools could easily add another 20 hours. This type of build really only works if you are doing the majority of the work yourself.
@S.S.H.OCT.18-08Ай бұрын
@walterfowler4720 Thank you for the time estimate. That is alot of time for sure. I agree with you for sure. A true 100 percercent custom build like that is a DIY unless you got real deep pockets. Glad we have great channels like yours and several others to give great ideas and motivation. Thanks and have a great rest of your day.
