Lakes are easier to fish and shoot content but I like heading up and down a river most of all. The section of the Truckee I fished for Patreon was really nice. A lot of it was new territory for me.

I've caught thousands of trout for the past 40 plus years here in california.ive never ,ever filleted 1 of them. Your wasting a lot of meat that way. I cook them either wrapped in foil.( Whole). Or pan fried whole using olive oil..the skin comes off easily. Take your fork and peel the meat away from both sides of the lateral line. . Then grab the tail. Lift slowly. And your set. Zero. Waste. You' now have almost 100 percent of all the meat on the fish. Boneless. Just don't over cook the fish. The bones will then fall off the spine into the meat.. just olive oil and a little season salt. And a little water if the pan gets dry. 1 small icecube in the foil wrapped trout with give it a little moisture. Steam. Try Amani. It's the way I've always cooked my trout, salmon. Steelhead. Enjoy Brother !!! .

Good for you. As I said, I clean up all of the scraps from the carcasses when I get home because I can do it in the sink with a tiny sharp knife while they are still in the bag. Mostly scraps I eat while I'm cooking the main course. I do a quick filet job on the rocks because I don't have a big kitchen and processing fish from the start is too messy. I explain that in most of my videos but a lot of people just ignore what I say and just react to the image in the video. Some people seem to prefer to be angry and ignore the details of what is said. I don't know why I even bother. Thanks for explaining how to eat trout. I've only been doing it for longer than you have if 40 years is your limit. Believe it or not, I've eaten tons of whole trout as well.

I fished chimney beach right on that point . Did really good lost a few and caught a few. Very hard to fish but if you cast out far into the sand between the rocks you will do good. The reason why I fished here is because I watched his videos. Was in October 2024. I used power bait and worms with marshmallow. I fished to the right of the chimney right off the rocks.

Nevada Trout recipe: remove head and tail. Pan fry in butter until skin can be removed and scape off the dark fatty stuff on the sides. Give it to your dog. Add more butter, chopped onions, garlic, lemon pepper and salt. Cook on high heat until golden 👍 add mushrooms too! 😀

What side of the lake is this thank you
@wildernesswithamani10274 күн бұрын
This was on the Nevada side near Sand Harbor. I fish all around the lake in videos on my Lake Tahoe shore fishing playlist. I found that when it's cold just find at least 10 feet of water with public access and give it a shot. How I rig up can be found on my fishing tips playlist.

Great camera angle and lighting for this one!
@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
I would like to take credit but this camera angle was all there was right there! I have several videos on my Lake Tahoe shore fishing playlist where the camera view has a giant boulder in 30% of it just because there is only one spot I can put my camera. Fishing from the boulder strewn shoreline sections of lake Tahoe has a lot of challenges!
@theoldsurffisher19438 күн бұрын
You're a very fine fisher. I can only imagine that the HIUGE shoreline of Tahoe has many off the common path locations that are seldom fished and hold very big trout. You seek them and know how to fish them. Have you ever tried under bobber floating (above the rocks) night crawlers?
@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
I did for about an hour once but I got sick of having to cast it back out over and over as it kept drifting in. I do good enough soaking bait on the bottom where I'd rather cast out and just chill. I have a lot of videos on my Lake Tahoe shore fishing playlist where I am exploring some of those uncommon areas.

Next time you catch a fat one, and squeeze Crawdads out of it…hook one or two of the best condition crawdads up and give em a go…
@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
Right on. The problem of fishing them on the bottom in the boulder sections is the crawdads will pull that bait right into the rocks within seconds of it hitting the bottom. I have attached small pieces of tail meat to the hook with my inflated crawler. I might see about trying some on the bottom in the shallower sandy beach areas but I still have to determine if those shallower beach areas are even worth fishing in the Winter. In the Summer they are crawling with people.

Beautiful day. Yummy looking Rainbows. Do you ever run into any of those Cutthroats that Nevada has been dumping in there?
@wildernesswithamani10279 күн бұрын
Yeah, I got one of them in Emerald Bay last time. I posted the video a few weeks back. I've also git a couple of small ones on the Nevada side. They are definitely in the tributaries on the California side. I got several when those where open. Looks like they are spawning.
@Pross21759 күн бұрын
Nice job do you inflate your night crawlers and how long of a leader do you use?
@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
I have a video on my fishing tips playlist where I discuss the particulars of how I typically fish from the Lake Tahoe shore. The leader depends on the shoreline. In an area where the bottom is giant boulders like this I go to nearly 5 feet to make sure my bait is rising high off the bottom. In other areas I go a little shorter if I know the bottom out there is mostly sand. I usually inflate my crawlers but I might soak them on the bottom in shallow beach areas this winter. I fish various types of Lake Tahoe shoreline in the videos on my Lake Tahoe fishing playlist.

@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
I don't know because I have not taken a Winter break from fishing since I started my channel over 5 years ago. When I lived in SoCal for decades before this channel existed I usually fished all year round but when I was home at the beach where I lived I just worked and had a good time!

BUT! In a good way ,I envy you for the time you have to travel all around these beautiful lakes up north (I live in hemet,ca ).I guess it's the drive up north to towards your part of town.its about 5-6 hours of driving..I mean I'm home alot doing nothing but fish and gym time... Okay, brother, keep what you're doing, I commend you .GOD bless

@@Edwardcruzz13 I used to fish big bear lake late Fall, all winter long, and early Spring when I still lived in SoCal. I used to fish up there about twice a month. I have a clip on my fishing tips playlist where I talk about fishing deep water in reservoirs and that is from Big Bear lake. It's one of the early videos I shot after I started my channel. I also used to have fun hitting Deep Creek with my fly rod.

Will the bite shut off the colder it gets or are the fish more active?
@wildernesswithamani10276 күн бұрын
The big trout will be cruising the shallower areas and biting to some degree all winter long. The Mackinaw move in when the water is cold as well. I fish Tahoe all year round. You are going to have slow days of fishing at Tahoe year round!

I can just sit and listen to podcasts or music. A lot of the times, I'm squeezing in a nice nap!
