COMMENT: Thoughts on the new PBA Rule changes for the upcoming season?
@nordattack Жыл бұрын
One Pro bowler who had a bad break with Brunswick and was getting run over by Purple Hammer's whined to the PBA and somehow got them to go against Brunswick and the Purple Hammer and create senseless and unscientific rule changes about urethane.
@asadopholis Жыл бұрын
@@nordattackseemed like a lot of science went into the decision. Why is it unscientific?
@nordattack Жыл бұрын
@@asadopholis Recommend watching Radcal "Reality vs. Perception" Pod Casts 17 and 18 which demonstrates how urethane balls can measure softer after only a few throws. Then you will understand the error the USBC and PBA are making.

They should also ban RICO and short-pin layouts too. Maybe two handed bowling next!

Day late and a dollar short but here we go anyway and maybe just maybe you and your followers will get a chance to see and read this. I don't really see a problem with these rule changes for Pro Bowlers and up-and-coming amateur bowlers. All these new rules do is force the pros and those up-and-coming amateur bowlers to use more of their skill sets to try and win a tournament vise relying mostly or entirely on their equipment to do it for them. After all the whole purpose of having pros is because of their skill sets compared to everyone else and not their equipment, correct? For instance, a purple hammer in comparison would be like pro baseball players being allowed to use a corked bat during a game, it's illegal and not allowed for a reason so why should pro bowlers be allowed to do the same? As for your average everyday Joe Smukately league bowlers go, they may eventually be needed as well because at the alley I bowl in multiple leagues at we have a lot of bowlers who use these balls to their advantage especially once the lanes start breaking down. As for me I just can't afford to be buying a bunch of bowling balls and am just stuck using what I have in my bag which consists of an Emerald Piranha, Blue Piranha and a TNT. Both my Piranhas work great at the alley at the Airforce base, but at my in-town alley they're worthless LOL. My TNT works fine on the fresh at my hometown alley but is a struggle once the lanes start transitioning and break down and I have to make major adjustments to try and carry, on the Airforce base I can use the TNT it's just not as effective as my two Piranhas. But hey what do I really know after all I'm just another one of your average everyday Joe nobody league bowlers right? You and your families have a good, safe and blessed rest of your week and upcoming weekend.

"the ball won't lane shine because it's already shiny" True, but it'll go the other way. If it's shinier than the lane surface the ball will get more dull because the ball and lane surface want to equalize. Typically lanes are about equivalent to a 4k pad I think.

Closer to 2,000 but yeah, it goes the other way.

It’s like 5500 so pretty shiny and smooth after use
@Jesusfanatic0711 Жыл бұрын
It’ll take the polish off but still the surface will go to 5500 and that’s because of the belt from the ball return causing the “lane shine”

Well they just killed the bowling ball stashers. Might as well drill up the legendary "Gem" only league arsenal.

I think that the new rules will be good for the tour. I still feel that if you need to keep making rules over and over for Urethane, no matter what it is, then just ban it completely and move on. Stop making people have to lose so much of their Arsenal and trying to find loop holes....just get rid of it if it continues to be an issue.

So the TDX is likely hooking more/earlier than the clone and losing energy down lane because of the surface.

1. Folks who are on a staff like Storm or Brunswick shouldn't be concerned with the ball age limit. New ball carry is real. 2. Hard or soft, urethane has a unique roll and reaction than pearls and solids, so once the urethane covers are re-formulated to meet the hardness standards, it will be back to business as usual. 3. What are your thought on string pins fir the PBA tour? Majors and regionals? A string pin vid would be interesting from your guys' perspective.

I'm in an agree and disagree sagment. What I agree with is that you check out the new bowling balls that will be out when your on tour. What I don’t agree with is that the fact you can't use it after 2022 even when you polish it is ridiculous. I say if you trust that ball if it released before or after 2022, I say use it.

I’m guessing the rule changes are more for entertainment than for actual practicality. With the oil patterns being as tough as they are Urethane is always going to be the first ball choice, I think scores in PBA tournaments are going to be much lower, and for the lefties out there like Jesper and Butters, I think they are going to struggle cause they use urethane almost exclusively. Don’t really care for the new rules, I think the USBC and PBA need to have the same rules cause I don’t understand how pros can be allowed to throw some balls at the US Open or Masters, and then not be able to throw them at the TOC or World Series. Should be an interesting season
@shannondingus8430 Жыл бұрын
Seems to me like the pba is trying to prop up storm bowling by targeting the purple hammer. If other companies could compete with that ball we wouldn't have this situation. Honestly, Storm has made 1 good urethane in its existence and its got resin in it. I'm not impressed! I'll take the brands of brunswick all day long, thanks..

Well the Tour Dynamix will be the start of a line of low-flaring, low RG, low diff solids to use instead of urethane. If these are still too "furry" to fill that gap, then we will see lots of 2" pins on these balls. Roto genius and innovation yet again. Great stuff as always, Jung and gang. Thank you!
@timanders3151 Жыл бұрын
I doubt it. 100% of players bowling outside PBA competition, including PBA players, can stil throw the 73 hardness urethane balls.. There is no reason to "replace" urethane until USBC does something, and at this point, there is no reason to believe that ever happens. Nothing demands these manufacturers start producing low flare resin balls. But you can bet your ass these companies will still try and market those 78D balls to the masses.

The only comment I haveeto say about the new upcoming PBA rule is Urethane is pretty much banned for now. None of the current Urethanes meet the upcoming criteria. But then who's to say maybe all the ball companies will release at least 1 new compliant Urethane for the upcoming PBA season. Not a big fan of the upcoming PBA ball rule change.

I know there's probably a lot of negativity about the rules on balls lately but, at the same time, the sport is WAY behind in terms of understanding itself. Analytics (though they ruin the game when they're used too much in sports like football, basketball and baseball) are barely even something acknowledged across the game. How many years did it take before studies on ball colors were done? So, with more and more studies done on surface and what factors modify it, it's very much a moving target in terms of modifying the game to get rid of unfair advantages - those should only come from talent disparities of the individual bowlers themselves. Stu Williams recently talked about how much more advanced golf is in equipment modification is than bowling, which in the latter has mainly guesswork and 'feel' dictate everything. There's just a lot of fudds that still populate the sport and in some cases run things, so it will probably still take more time to advance the understanding of the game.

My opinion is that you see so many resin balls coming out on the market, and all the pros review these balls giving their opinion of how good they are, but then when you see them on television or bowl tv, you see them throwing only urethane, and personally I don't like it. Well, it's just making us spend money on something that the pros recommend but don't use.
