Wow, this is beautiful. As you mentioned when stripping, the wood was very delicate. And a previous owner loved this piece so much that they gorilla glued the leg together, put in dividers, and put new handles on it. They loved it, and you saved it so a new owner can love and cherish it some more. What a wonderful story.

Back in the 70's I had no $$, but plenty of time. All types of wood were "in style" - I loved anything older, with interesting finishes. I knew nothing, but had a blast doing projects. I'd like to request longer "after" shots, like the top edges (the routing was a brilliant idea, and looks original), pulling the drawers out, showing more close-ups. So beautiful! 💚

Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills are phenomenal 👏 👏 👏 and the professionalism of you going the extra mile with fixing the lock and getting a working key 🔑 are commendable and are to be applauded❣️💚*

Using a bag to put the de-rusting agent in with the iron pieces is a great idea. So many people waste a whole gallon of the de-rusting agent by dumping it in a bucket when in fact the only need a much smaller quantity if the part is tiny. I also liked the use of vodka to get rid of the smell. When tackling smells from old furniture, if the smell of old furniture offends you, always remember that time, fresh air and sunshine are your friends. Leaving the piece in a well aerated but not damp place will reveal if the smell is due to dampness or something else. A bit of sunshine can help in making volatile smelly chemicals evaporate. When cleaning old pieces, after getting rid of all the debris and dust inside, I would try vinegar first: It should be much cheaper than vodka/alcohol. That should tackle most of the grime and you can then do a wiping with alcohol as a last step, needing a lot less of it. 7:15 blasting wood with abrasive material can never be a good idea - especially when you have soaked the wood beforehand! You should have tried blasting a part of the piece that would not be as important as the intricate legs first. Going for the most complex part first was not the best decision. Sometimes one gets carried away because of the low price of purchase thinking they do not have much to lose if it all goes wrong. What people forget with this argument is all the personal investment that they have put in the piece in first place (e.g. the expectation of doing something with it, hauling it from the store, choosing that particular piece over another etc.) -let alone the time or money invested in it in the meantime.

Wonderful! 🤩 I started as an antique restoration apprentice at my local thrift store, where we save old pieces like this beauty from certain destrction. Seeing you work so skillfully with those tools was a pleasure. So good to see it from despondent to beautiful. I raised my eyebrows at your choice of adding the wheels, that was definitely 'original' haha. Thanks for teaching me about sanding and removing the gunk. I want to learn about that in my workshop too! 💚
