Incredible. Bach's choral works mesmerize me everytime I listen to them. I also had the honour of performing in the chorus for this piece and it has consequently imbedded itself in my very soul!

Phenix Opera, then you called the wrong number. It is interesting to quote from Bach’s letter of employment he had to sign in Leipzig May 1723 Among other things, we read: «And I don’t want to perform any music that sounds like opera.» Women were not allowed to sing in such works, boys ‘ voices were used instead.

@LothavM I'd say it's just a modern interpretation. Thhe vibrato doesn't bother me, although generally I prefer a narrower vibrato.

Passably well sung, but the recitative sections are way too slow and the timing of one of the phrases in the opening aria is incorrect
