I like the Purity of Fire approach, especially this patch. You can do it as a Chieftain, but the newly buffed Cloak of Flame means you don't even have to. You get 40% conversion of ALL phys dmg from that, 20% from Dawnbreaker, 10% from Watcher's Eye, another 10% or so from your Timeless jewel (you can use PoB to find the right seeds to get nodes with phys taken as fire) that you'll want anyway for the Tempered by War keystone and upto another 18% from your helmet from both the explicit Betrayal mod and the implicit Eldritch mod. That's 98% phys taken as fire even for non-Chieftains! The nice thing about it is that you also convert all the cold and lightning dmg you take to fire damage, if you have a PoF Sublime Vision (50% from Tempered by War, 30% from Sublime Vision, 20% from Dawnbreaker), so you only need fire res (which you'll have plenty of from Cloak of Flame and Purity of Fire), chaos res and as much max fire res as possible (upto the 90% cap). But the problem is that a PoF Sublime Vision is expensive! It's like 50 divines atm. But that's why I said THIS PATCH. Firstly because Cloak of Flame was buffed this patch and so you don't need to be a Chieftain anymore. But also because the new Shadowed Rings can serve as a cheap substitute for Sublime Vision until you can afford it. The only issue with them is they don't affect DoTs, so cold DoTs are a vulnerability (light DoTs are rare).

If you go elementalist, I find the pyroshock clasp belt to be quite nice. It has health, dex, and evasion (which is useful for my build) increased ailment duration, and converts part of physical damage taken to fire of electric, if you have shocked or ignited someone. Grabbing shaper of storms is nice for an ignite build, for instance, and means that any igniting hit is going to convert up to 30% of enemy physical damage to elemental
@Tenkiei2 жыл бұрын
@@skinnysnorlax1876 While pyroshock clasp is very good one thing to keep in mind: Converting enemy damage is slightly different from damage shifting IE: if you have lightning coil (50%), Pyroshock (30% enemy phys conversion) and Taste of Hate with some flask effect (20%) if an enemy tries to hit you for 1000 phys damage they hit you for 700 phys, 150 fire, 150 lightning after pyroshock clasp. Then your shifting converts 350 to lightning, 140 to cold. So you take 150 fire damage, 140 cold damage, 500 lightning damage, 210 physical damage.

Good video, though I think it was also worth mentioning somewhere that this defense works well with armour, not just as a substitute for armour. With a bit of damage shift and/or % physical damage reduction, you can really shore up that weakness of armour. Still, it's great to showcase an alternative means of mitigating physical damage, and I get that armour is popular right now, so the focus was on an alternative that is probably underused.

Chieftan Node Tasalio my personal MVP. I've never considered going for even more physical taken as something else but I think I'm going to. Phys taken as was one of the first things I tried to build in PoE. I did it with a jug, however, because I didn't know how things worked, and I thought that if I have 10 Endurance Charges, resulting in 50% reduced phys taken with the Jugg ascendancy, I thought I only needed 50% converted from phys to elemental to be immune to phys. talking about phys damage mitigation, @Tenkiei, does "additional phisical damage reduction" affixes mitigate phys dots? and, how does it differ from armour?
@IsHeHigh2 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. PDR is a flat stat that applies after the effects of armour. It is simply "less physical damage taken". It is still affected by Overwhelm and can be reduced itself, but it is applied after armour in the damage equation and scales in a completely linear way. I'm completely making up numbers here, just to illustrate the differences... but let's say that you have 5000 armour and 10% PDR. You take a hit for 100 and your armour reduces that by 90% to 10, your PDR then reduces that post-mitigation damage by 10% and you take 9 damage. Same armour and PDR but a hit of 1000 and now your armour only reduces that by 50% because armour is less effective against larger hits. Your PDR now applies to the remaining 500 damage and reduces it by 10%, so you take 450 damage. Made up numbers, but the concept is sound. Physical Damage Reduction is always expressed as a flat percentage and applied after armour (which is expressed as a number and then compared against the size of the hit to find its % reduction in the armour calculation). PDR also works against bleeds, debuffs, etc... Whereas armour works only against hits.

@Tenkiei2 жыл бұрын
It depends on how you shift the damage. For example Cloak of Flame says "40% of physical damage taken as fire" but Lightning Coil says "50% of physical damage from hits taken as fire" so Cloak of Flame would shift the damage from bleed, and Lightning Coil would not. Edit: Oh you mean on the enemy side. I'm pretty sure bleed is calculated at a step before shifting but I could be wrong about that. Currently my solution is to get to 90% physical damage mitigation without armour. An important new tool for me in this regard is that eldritch mods on body armour can grant 20+% more warcry effect. Along with Natural Authority that means more than 50% warcry effect, which in turn means the Enduring Cry buff grants 3% instead of 2% additional mitigation per endurance charge. Along with flat physical mitigation from armour, shield, etc it is not that hard to have 90% mitigation all the time.
