thanks for the Video, i have one question if we have multiple project using same workflow and i want the PDF saved in each project folder, could you please advise?

You would need to use variables and the part file path to decide where it saves. It can be a dynamic output location within PDM. It's mentioned in this video right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIbLeKKjmLWWodE Set that to be a folder path that changes based on your project folder path and it should save to the individual project folder.

I noticed that the finished state of the PDF is “Work in Process” … how would you get the file to automatically reach the released state? We want our PDF prints of the SLDDRW files to also appear as Released so as not to cause doubt or confusion (or to be edited or overwritten).

With PDM standard there are very few automation options, at some point a user is going to have to transition the file to released. PDM Professional has automated transitions or the ability to have multiple work flows that can manage this sort of thing without user intervention.

@@goengineer I made an auto-transition that permitted only .pdf files with a revision move the item straight to approved. works great!

Is that possible to do this task when We make the Check In operation for the file?

Sorry, not in PDM Standard. The action can only run on a file transition, which can only happen if a file is checked in.

Unfortunately, the task isn't programmed to run silently. Most of the time, we see people designate another computer to be the task host instead of their local machine in order to make it appear as a silent operation, though the window won't be minimized on the machine creating the PDF. However, designating another machine to be the task host is a PDM Professional feature only.

@@goengineer Thanks for the reply. What about if I want to generate DXFs instead of PDFs? When I go to select output format, it's unselect-able
