SolidWorks Sub-Assembly QUICK OPEN

When working with #solidworks #assemblies with several #subassembly levels things can get confusing. But there is a quick tool to open a specific sub-assembly directly from the graphics area. It is even easier to use the flyout that appears at the top left of the modeling window. There you can select Face, Feature, Body, Assembly on up the tree and you get a preview to ensure that you have the correct item(s). Right clicking gives you all the options such as Isolate or Replace Components.

Hi Toby, I actually use this a lot. Very underutilized per my experience as well. I ran into another problem today though, I was trying to 'isolate' a sub-assy and another component but whenever I click on the model it was just isolating sub-assy part instead of whole sub-assy. I ended up choosing it from the feature tree but I wish there was shortcut/modifier when you click you, it lets you select the whole sub-assy instead of just one particular part.

RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON on the part (in the graphics area) Choose SELECT SUB ASSEMBLY (from text menu) RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON in the background Choose ISOLATE (from text menu) Let me know if that works - hope this helps!

I'm not really sure what specifically you're asking about so it may be helpful if, after examining a suggestion (like using CTRL+TAB) you explain the shortcoming you are experiencing. And maybe describe the goal and the application. I'm not really sure what the application would be for "listing all open windows". Hope this helps!
