Maybe not the most expensive ETA Movement (or the best one) but still a work of art from an engineering perspective!

The movement is not repairable, but watches with it are. For $65, the movement can be replaced. The hardest part is either removing the stem or opening the watch case. Te rest of the replacement is not too bad.

Put in date setting mode first then release the stem quite easily.....

My thoughts precisely. Just started looking for a suitable alternative to disposable quartz. A serviceable quartz such as Ronda5030.d? Or Miyoya? Or Seiko? A mechanical chronograph that fits the case of my PRC200?

This why I like seiko movements more ! Like the seiko flightmaster movement 7T34. It easily runs 20 years and is fixable. This ETA is not a bad movement….I like the Seiko’s more .

I would not want to keep using a 20 year old quartz movement. As technology advances so does accuracy. The fact that these movements can’t be worked on is completely irrelevant. They don’t require service, other than a battery change, because they gears are not under any significant load. The wear on any moving parts is almost nil. My G10.211 is currently running at about 6 seconds or so fast per year. It is not thermocompensated. MyG10.212 is currently running about 3 seconds a month fast. Again, this beats Seiko movements at this price point by a county mile.
@johnraba93224 ай бұрын
@@GustoTheGamer I have never had a quartz movement fail in 30 years other than a change of battery. In addition, the G10.211 and .212 are more accurate than the Seiko quartz movements. Repairable or not is a non issue. I have news for you as well. Even mechanical watches often have their movements replaced rather than repaired. More and more companies drop in a fresh or already serviced movement in your watch. Then they service the removed movement and use it later for another repair.

Yeah, it's also fitted on my formula 1 and kinda pisses me off that tag has the balls to charge 1k for a watch with a cheap movement. Still mine still works after 8 years, but I have mechs over 50 in my collection that also works.

they could've made it easily repairable, yet they choose not to. like seriously, the whole concept of Swatch being a bunch of disposable watches just doesn't sit right for me 😕 if cheap Casios can be easily repairable, then that just doesn't justify it's swiss counterpart for being hardly repairable for 2-4 times the price of a Casio
