Also, most of the blade noise is behind the operator. If you mow where it gets windy, no more clippings and dust in your face. Overall, a rear mower is much more comfortable for the operator.

Agree on those points for sure. The only thing I've found is that mowing around trees requires more weed whipping than with my belly mower, but I do really like the cut. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I think a flail mower with Y blades and can be offset may be the best solution for the pond.

I have an offset ditch bank flail with hammer blades vs Y blades but it makes my JD 2032R feel tippy. I assume the same would be the case on the Solis but I’ve not tried as it requires dual rear remotes and the Solis has singles. The flail sizing for this sized tractor is 4-5’ and I think you’d need a 6-7’ to get out past the tires. The main issue for me is how soft the ground is and how easy it is to get into the mud…. You might try a sickle bar mower. They stick out the side and aren’t that heavy.

Yep I’d like to try one just didn’t like the prices when I looked last. There are some options that attach to the bucket too that I hope to try, but also need a third function.

Is the float a function of the tractor or hydraulic top link?

So in this scenario the float that I’m referring to is on the mower where the toplink connects. There is a pivot point that if you have your toplink tight there is no “float” or pivot but if you have it extended there is float. In terms of hydraulic capabilities the tractors rear control valve is controlled by a lever by the seat that also has a float function. I suppose when engaged that would allow the top link to stay fully extended to enable the float on the mower but that is not how I was using it. Sorry if this is confusing but I had not considered it the way you asked.

Great video. I'm about a year from having large acreage to mow and was going back and forth between the finish mower and a flail. I have a friend with a 1025 and a belly mower that hates the windrows that type of mower leaves behind. the finish and flail eliminate that problem. Any chance on Solis coming out with a flail? Would love to see how the two perform.
