Them Northern towns are beautiful Patrick. Baths not the only one with a crescent then? Fantastic look around and a nice walk out and lunch. Hey you can treat yourself. Last of the big spenders eh? That sack will last in your hands for sure. I have many of my old sacks and still use them. Well, great views from the temple. Lovely walk. I trust your weekend is a good one. Mark

Morning Mark, yes Buxton is rather like a mini-Bath in some ways due to the Georgian architecture. This was a nice easy walk really so very enjoyabe to film. Yeah my old Karrimor framed rucksack is still with me after all these years, but I'll never get rid of it as it came with me on my early trips, Offa's Dyke in 1990 for example. A quiet weekend for me, hope yours is a great one too Mark. All the best to you 👍

@@solitaryrambler Hey Patrick, yeah it seems as if Buxton was wealthy at some point. The North was an industrial power house. Oh yeah we love them old packs. I get why you keep yours. Weekends can't be busy all the time. My weekend? Just off to waterproof my tents in the park. Have a great week.

This is home ground for myself and my partner Christine, Patrick. We were both born in Harpur Hill, and used to frequent Soloman's Temple quite a lot. In fact the junior school I used to attend when I was a child at Harpur Hill, used the Temple as a symbol on the school uniform, back in the day. Yes, Buxton town and surrounds is a lovely place especially when you've got beautiful weather like on the day you did this splendid video walk. Never cared for it years ago, though, when those deep snows used to fall. You've given a real good account of the town in this program, Patrick. By the way, we do like Matlock, but we've not been to the town since the early 2000s. I bought a railway book from the Peak Rail shop at the station, and that was a nice day out. I used to know someone who used to write a sports column for the Mercury, a few years ago, whom I worked with at British Rail, Buxton. Anyhow, this is a nostalgic video, so many thanks for doing it.

I visited Buxton several years ago and Bakewell on the same day. I had forgotten just how pretty the town is so this video was a real treat especially considering it was absolutely chucking it down when I visited the Town. Great work Patrick and I have to say Solomons Temple looks well worth a visit too.

Lovely stuff Patrick. Buxton is certainly a beautiful town. The town centre and surrounding area brings back lovely memories of taking my daughter there when she was younger. I’ve only ever passed through recently on my way to the Goyt valley area. I’ll have to go back soon and visit Solomon’s Temple as I’ve not been there yet. Impressed to hear about how long your rucksack has lasted. They don’t seem to build them to last these days as companies seem to all be in competition as to who can create the most lightweight one.

Morning Anthony, yes Buxton is pretty nice isn't it. It's a pleasant walk up to Solomon's Temple from the town centre so certainly worth visiting. Just try and choose a less busy day than I did here! 😂 Yeah my old Karrimor framed rucksack is still in good nick, not that I use it much nowadays, but I won't part with it as it's a fond reminder of my older trips as it came with me to the Lakes in 1987, Offa's Dyke in 1990 and many other places in my younger and fitter days. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 👍

Just the six hours on this one Patrick. Fantastic architecture in Buxton. Loved the wooden carving of the bloke and his lump hammer. Mention of the Cat and Fiddle brought back memories of Ted Moult at the Tan Hill Inn 😂😂😂😂😂

It's been a while since I watched these videos, but seeing a video in Buxton is great! Hearing it's the highest market town in England (above 1,000ft) interested me the most, and the architecture there is brilliant, like the Opera House you visited at the start. The walk and views from Solomon's Temple is breath-taking too, and the viola soundtrack you made is brilliant! Your new rucksack looks great as well, looking forward to more videos!

Very nice video. I like the view from Solomons Temple too. I remember walking up there with my grandad back in 1982 or 83. He couldn’t quite make it all the way up but certainly gave it a good effort. He said he used to go up there when he was young. He lived on Derwent Road in Buxton.

My late father worked in Buxton during the seventies, building the Barretts estate. He drove everyday from Manchester to Buxton and in the summer on his day's off, my mother would make him drive us to Buxton for picnics. He used to moan that it felt like going to work again. Thanks. This is a nice reminder of a pleasant day in Buxton when we were on holiday a few years ago. I don't understand why the crescent was built at the bottom of the slope rather than the top (like Bath). What happens when there is heavy rain coming off the slope?
