Cool trip video! Liking the chill vibes and the wolf track was a nice sighting. I'll be doing a very similar route in a week.

Hey thank you! Hope you have a blast. Will that be your first trip up there?

@@nabeelkasim yep, first trip there. Any words of advice?

@@OutdoorOperator try to get a mix of both inland lake campsites and Lake Superior/ harbor campsites. They both have unique vibes/feelings. My favorite inland lake was lake Richie and my favorite Lake Superior campsite was lane cove

Great video with nice images, good editing & likable narration. Doing an 18 mile hike in a day is impressive, especially with the broken boardwalks in swampy areas. Seeing moose, loons and a wolf track is a thrill, and wild blueberries are the best! Some music is ok, but constantly can be distracting. Can't go wrong with natural sound: lapping waves, forest sounds, loons, etc. End kinda broke off.

Definitely was a wild ride! Thanks so much for your feedback :)

A few years ago I did my first solo backpacking trip, for 18 nights on Isle Royale (from Windigo to Rock Harbor). Previously I had done a 4 week canoe trip there on the inland lakes, but with family. My pack was too heavy, I took a LOT of falls, got caught in a big thunder/lightening storm on the Greenstone Trail headed to Island Mine and started to become hypothermic, on night two. You know what? I’d do it all over again. I don’t know what the deal is with McCargo Cove, but apparently it always has loud disrespectful people there, that was my experience and after talking with other people who have gone to IRNP more than once, they’ve all had the same experience. None of the other campsites seem to have that issue, even Rock Harbor and Washington Creek which can get overcrowded quite quickly. One day I hope to own a sea kayak and do Isle Royale that way.

Wow thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear you made it out of the storms! Seems like a good idea to avoid McCargo next time around if that’s the case.

My three sons and I are about to do a 7-night backpack. Mid-August 2023. Glad you made this video. I'll be sure to bring some deet. Camp shoes/sandals to let feet have more of a chance to dry out. Definitely looked to be up against some elements. Prep phase now, trying to get things together on what all to bring.

Do I just contact the Isle Royale national park service to get a hiking permit? I want to do an accompanied hike with 3 friends. Please reply and give me some information. Thanks :)
@nabeelkasim2 жыл бұрын
You can get your permit when you arrive to the island. The park ranger will confirm your route and where you plan to be sleeping each night. The permit comes in the form of a tag that you will attach to your backpack and tent throughout your journey

Michigan has more than 1 national park. Sleeping bear sand dunes and the painted rocks Lakeshore immediately come to mind.

Hey Stephen, you are correct but those are technically National Lakeshores*

You shouldn't drink unfiltered water from a creek or lake due to liver flukes carried by moose and giardia.
@nabeelkasim Жыл бұрын
Pro tip indeed. I used a sawyer squeeze filter to purify all the water I drank plus a two part purifying mix. Definitely worth the extra steps
