I am so glad you trusted your gut instinct and went home and got back home safe and sound. That is always the best thing to do. Saftey should always come first.

Just found your channel. I’m a disabled widow in the US, Tennessee. Just wanted to say what an AWESOME job you did! And that listening to your gut can absolutely save your life. I live in a state where we can have protection, but I certainly don’t want to be put in a position where I have to use it. That’s where your awareness of your surroundings gives you the opportunity to get out to avoid a potentially dangerous person. Great job with the tarp, and great job handling the bug out. I’m now forwarding your info to my 12 yo grandson. We love camping, and he will definitely benefit from watching you. Take care. Best wishes!

@cathyjay2569 Thank you and greeting from Scotland! 🏴 Yes, our laws are such that we are very limited in what we can carry on our person and we have actually just had new knife legislation come in as well which limits what you are allowed to own/use at home too. I have plenty of content on my channel and I upload on a regular basis, so I hope to enjoy perusing my library of adventures! 🇺🇸 ♥️ 🏴

@@Jess_Outdoors637 I am doing so right now. Matter of fact I will probably binge watching you for a few hours! And our government has gone off the rails. I suspect it won’t be long now…we will all be totally controlled by their obscene legislation. Living in the woods may be our only viable option. You are well on your way to mastering the skills, and I am very much enjoying your camps! Thank you again!

Darn creeps! Glad you're safe. I have little dogs, who bark up a storm if creeps get close. But it's extra work to look after them too.

Yes, u can't relax with someone creeping around. Whether you are male or female. Sensible girl . Nice camp spot! Pine cone is a good idea. I have used small stones to replace torn eyelets. But for some reason neva thought to use it as u have. Thanks.!
@Jess_Outdoors6373 ай бұрын
@@alexanderwright9064 Thank you! Better to be safe than sorry! Also you can use anything! Stones, cones, sticks and even crunched up leaves! Eyelets do have a tendency to break which is why I prefer the sewn in tabs!

Hay Jess, just playing catch-up with you content, im glad you're safe and i agree safety comes first. Im also glad you but the end from home on as you make very good points, no matter who you are if you don't feel safe do the sensible thing and leave. As KZbinrs we have a responsibility to give proper advice because people watch what we do, weather thats solo camping or climbing a mountain. So well done great video and great advice keep them coming my dear.

Thanks you! I believe it’s important to show that feeling uncomfortable or having to bail on a trip is normal and not something to be ashamed of. That way if someone new to camping watches this video, it will give them the confidence to set realistic expectations and not push themselves if they feel unsafe

How do you like the wide, flat fabric loops for tie-outs on that tarp? I've only ever used thinner ones, typically stitched on bits of paracord or something of the like. Your video popped up in my recommended feed and I always enjoy this kind of content, so I liked and subscribed. You've got a great voice for narration and I appreciate your candor. I'd have peaced out too had I seen some creeper slinking around the trees.

@@ColdHarborOP Thank you an welcome to the channel! I’ve got a good selection of over nighters so I hope you enjoy perusing my content 🙂 As for the tarp, I’m from Scotland and the winds can be ferocious here! Sometimes I need to stake out the tarp with proper carved stakes to keep it secure. The wide flat loops are the perfect size for this and they seem to offer more stability than grommets when the tarp is under a lot of strain

Me and my friend (both girls) went for a wild camp in the peak district to a popular spot. When we pitched, there was not a soul around, and it was getting dark. As we set up and started cooking, some guys came over the hill and shouted from a distance, saying we were in their pitch and "Get the f**k out of our spot!" Our pride made us stay, and they pitched close by - but enough with enough distance to keep our peace. Or so we thought... While we sat out stargazing and talking about settling in for the night, we were blinded by the head torches of the same guys. They had come over to our camp, trying to intimidate us. Again, pride made us stay but I hardly slept and had my knife with me the entire night - worst trip ever. I'm glad you trusted your gut and got out of there. that must have been so scary for you, I'm glad you're ok.
