Join me on an autumn wild camp in a local forest. On this camp I decided to bring a mix of modern and traditional gear with the plan of doing a little bushcraft. For instance, the modern baker style tent I brought is not freestanding and it does require you to use cut branches and/or a ridge line to suspend the tent and the awning. In addition, I needed to make a simple tripod to hang a pot for cooking. This meal took a bit longer than most of the things I normally cook at camp, so I got to spend plenty of time just relaxing by the fire. It's really nice when the temps start to drop as we head towards winter (my favorite time to camp). There is just something really nice about sitting next to a fire on a cold night! Hope you like this camp as much as I did. If you have any questions or would just like to say hi, please leave a comment down below! Thanks for Watching!

Thanks! 👍😀 There is nothing more disappointing than walking through the woods and discovering a large fire pit someone has just left when it doesn’t take much effort to just leave no trace. In some areas it may make sense to just use an established fire pit but here it just doesn’t. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB

These woodland camp vids look like you're slipping on a comfortable pair of much loved slippers. You've also absolutely nailed a 'chiaroscuro' aesthetic of low light, natural flame videography - it's so pleasant to look at. I've done slow cooking stews a couple of times and it's so satisfying somehow eh? Another superb vid - already looking forward to what you get up to in The Lakes! Cheers. Rich 👍

I haven’t heard someone use the term chiaroscuro since taking an art humanities class back in university! Really glad you like the candle/firelight shots. I’ve been very happy with how the camera does at picking up light the way I see/experience it on these trips. I really love the look of light produced by a candle or fire. In fact I regularly light a candle at night in the house rather than turn on the lights in a room (😂it drives my wife crazy). Hard to not like a nice stew on a chilly autumn or winter evening! Appreciate the comments as always Rich. ATB

I got to hand it to you for cooking real potatoes. I go the instant route. That meal looked delish. I have the one tigris outback tent which is the same but opens both in the front and back. Great trip as always. I got to learn that knot to adjust the pot height. Take care.

I’ve actually never made instant potatoes before. I’m assuming they basically taste the same though as long as you season them properly. I know which tent you are talking about 👍. I really enjoy this baker style tent design for Woodland camps.

I echo your sentiment about the noise from the road, even at 2 miles+ away. I forget who said it, but it was something like "Silence is the sound of Nature in motion." When we think of it that way, silence is being drowned out by human activity more and more each day. At this rate, there will come a day soon when it will cease to exist completely. Kind of sad, really.

It is definitely getting harder to get away from noise pollution completely. Even far from any roads I still will hear planes occasionally flying overhead. It’s sad.

Another great vlog 👍. I've got the onetigiris outback similar to the bungalow but far too big and heavy for any distance from the car even leaving the poles at home to save weight but still love it.

Yeah the outback definitely looks a bit bigger. Great tents though for a woodland camp. I enjoy the throwback look to the old canvas baker style tents. And at least these OneTigris tents are not as heavy as those, and they don’t break the bank 👍. I really appreciate you watching and commenting on these older videos btw. All the best!

@@samuraican6901 yes that ridge does actually look like that! It is called Crib Goch. It’s a very narrow ridge that falls off on both side. It’s an incredible hike but you definitely have to be careful on that ridge. However you are rewarded with incredible views on both sides!
