From Destin Florida to Orange Beach Alabama is a great area to explore and camp on a micro skiff. Lots of interesting things to see and it's always an adventure with Trip. This 140 plus mile trip wasn't the best weather, but the best time was made of it that's for sure!

Your videos are really inspiring for me. I live here in LA (lower Alabama), I moved here 10 yrs ago from WI and because of illness and injuries I haven't been able to enjoy the outdoors the way I've wanted to, but I'm working on that and getting fit again so I can enjoy the coast and get back to snorkeling and doing all the fun beach stuff. I get inspired by people who stay fit and like a little adventure.

Hi there. My dad introduced me to your videos the other day and I had a thought that when you are sleeping on your boat that you might be able to have a hinged board coming off of your storage compartment lid (the one that you sleep on) that would open towards the front of the boat and rested on your cooler, or the front of the boat (not sure of the dimensions) to give you a better, more stable platform for sleeping on. You know, just a piece of plywood or something durable that you could paint white or whatever.... It would make your lid slightly heavier, but might be worth a good nights sleep. I like the new mattress that blows up with the bag.... great solution to blowing up small things. I enjoyed watching. Good for you on your adventuring, and stay safe out there! :)_
@sheilajackson3750
@sheilajackson3750 4 жыл бұрын
.... or perhaps the board could be hanging down on the front of the compartment and then raises Up on a hinge to rest on your cooler...????

Yea, I've thought about various things like your are talking about.... Haven't come up with a solution I would be happy with. I have a few ideas I'd like to try but I will probably be selling the boat in the near future so I won't be making extra holes or anything in her.

Trip, love the vid. I live in the Mid Atlantic states where the water is colder and more green colored. When you talk about clarity, do you mean visibility horizontally under water? I thought the water in Destin was very clear when I was there, but in certain places like the Alabama coast the water was more brown can cloudy. Is that typical of the AL coast? Why is Destin so much more clear and blue than Orange Beach?

I ended up putting in at Perdido bridge and paddling out to the backside of Johnsons beach to camp. You are correct on lack of hammock trees!!! I’m wondering if you know a good place to put in a SUP that isn’t on military property (and I can park my vehicle) closer to Ft Mcree.

Hey cool! I'd head over to one of the marinas there on big lagoon near the pass. Just walk up and tell them what you're trying to do. I bet they either let you launch and park free or charge you a reasonable amount. Years ago I did a paddling trip out there and that's how I did it

Boston Whaler Montauk 17 would be a perfect boat for ya trip. I’m not a salesman but I’m an owner and i love mine. They make smaller ones that are great too like the super sport 13 but the montauk 17 is big enough for the family too

I have Super Sport 13 at least 15 years old. Fun to cruise around in and looks better than the newer ones. Cruises effortlessly at 20 knots but can do 30 with the 40 hp Merc. A little scary leaping off big wakes at 20 knots. What kind of skiff and motor size does he have?
@TripSmith
@TripSmith 4 жыл бұрын
Yea I'd like to take a few whalers for a test run one day. Would be fun. I really like the newer ones.... That is an IPB 14 for a 25hp 2-stroke on her.

Love the content bro. I'm in the south too. Also love small boats just refinished a orlando clipper 14ft made in orlando Florida in 1955. How do you find all the marinas for fuel or you carry all your fuel? What your average speed?
@TripSmith
@TripSmith 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lucas! Nice find. Both, this time I carried most of it but I just figure there will be a marina somewhere. If not, I'd find a gas station and walk to it with my cans ;) Cruising easy at 25mph.

how do you keep the boat so clean!? do you wax it between clips!? haha nice looking boat, but seriously how do you do it?
@TripSmith
@TripSmith 4 жыл бұрын
No waxing between clips lol I'm very careful about getting myself clean before getting on the boat and nothing dirty comes on the boat..... If something does get dirty, I have my sponge or shammy cloth ready to wipe it up before it spreads. I would consider myself a stickler about keeping the boat clean.....
