I can relate, solo male here, you are right, get a glock 20, for black bear, and above, even though, it won't help against the skinwalkers and bigfoot, but that's what Jesus is for, other than that, just respect nature, and living creatures, and you will be alright, minus the potential for crazy humans, both satanic side and just plain insane side...haha...anyways, I plan on using a van for some level of security, but in the end, relying on Jesus and Father in Heaven, much respect to you for being a strong soul as well, not many women these days care about anything but silly worldy things.

Yup, I live in Oregon and do all day long trips fishing, but I would never sleep out there with a tent, even just for the sake of black bears, and people think they aren't a threat, let me tell ya. do some research, they are not a threat for your typical hiker who wants to be around other humans, but for those of us who seek out true nature, and that means going where others don't, the threat of an attack is very real, you are basically asking for it. So, yeah, I do not plan on overnighting until I get a van, which should be this year hopefully, and then you guys will have some fun deep woods content coming your way =)

Eventually you'll meet up with a bear if your in the back woods. I Never go camping without my 45 Ruger 6 shooter with bear shot on my side. I sleep better I eat better and I enjoy the day better knowing Betsy is on my side. I've come across black bears twice and I wasn't a bit nervous and those bears knew that they didn't smell fear and they left. If I didn't have it I'd a shit myself. I was just out walking the trail and each time they came out of nowhere and I had a cougar come behind me once on the trail. When you take out that Canon and you tell the bear to leave or he's gona be your new rug they know and the walk away. I had to fire a warning shot on the cougar she just kept coming closer and closer kicking up dirt with her front paws. I fired like 3 feet in front of her and I'm sure some dirt came up and hit her in the face and she took off

Get yourself a screened tent that you can flush right up against your van so when you walk out the side door, you'll be entering right into the tent where you can cook, sit and eat outside without being surprised by any animal walking right up on you...or a person. Leave no gaps in between the van and the tent. When you're out in the open like that, anything can walk up on you from either side of the van. A screened tent will give you enough time to get back into the van quickly and safely. Some have 2 openings.

I live in Minnesota. The most dangerous big animal that you will probably encounter in your life in Northern Minnesota is the moose. Damn, those things are cantankerous! Once they start an attack, they don't back off... and they will often PICK a fight with you. Black bears usually run away but be careful that you don't get between a mamma and her cubs. You're pretty much done for once you do that. There are other dangerous animals as well, but for the most part, if you have bear spray and you are armed, you can survive. BTW, mosquitoes are a big animal in Minnesota... they are known as the State bird. LOL!! I love the North Woods of Minnesota. Peaceful and beautiful.

The game camera is a very very smart idea, if you don't want to be bothered by certain things in the woods. They see the light from the IR emitter and will not approach. And you most definetly don't want these things to approach. You wouldn't ever camp alone after that, I guarantee it.

Love your camping videos Man but I can say with all honesty as well as two experiences growing up with my parents. While camping it's probably a good thing that you have the bear spray and a pistol and a minivan to separate you from them. Because if you're actually that worried about bears you should probably know that bears have a sense of smell 2100 times that of a human. So even though you disposed of the burger remains in that Campground trash bears are highly attracted to sweet and sugary things such as pastries and cookies like you had in your minivan. Having a close-up encounter with a overly eager black bear trying to pack on as many calories as it can before it's hibernation cycle begins. Is a once in a lifetime experience you really don't want. Cougars: Cougars are rarely seen in Minnesota, but occasionally do appear. If you have such an encounter, keep eye contact with the cougar. Cougars only attack from the rear. They are easily intimidate and eye contact plus shouts will usually make then leave the area. Cougars are cats and may just sit and watch for a while...still, keep eye contact. Do not turn your back or stoop down. (You never make eye contact with a bear). Happy camping. God loves you, so do we.

Pretty sure your little friend is a Fisher Marten. I'm going to say it was an Elk or Moose you heard..sounds like when they were rub their antlers on wood. Sooo pretty where you are.

Northern Minnesota Reminds me of the Upper Peninsula Michigan. Moose bear wolves and Sasquatch 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It's absolutely beautiful there. I hike a lot and when it's really quiet it's because there's a large predator around. The volume could be a bit higher when you walk away from the camera

that loud sound to me seemed like a tree falling over and hitting a creek bed...

Also you may want to get one of those small coolers that you plug into a car plug you dont need ice and they work well if you get one about the size of your cooler the price isnt to bad its definitely work having. Walmart sells the small ones at a responsible price they use very little battery power can be run on solar too and its can run small battery supply so you have different options to use but easiest is just plug into a car plug if you worry about your car battery just crank the van up for a few minutes before bedtime to get a good charge. They are made to use in the car so it doesnt pull much power at all....
