The fox story reminds me of a morning my Dad and I had up in Canada. We were WAY back in the bush 6AM. You had to canoe back into this lake. We came out the creek to a mist covered lake. Silence all around except for our paddle strokes. The loons were performing their mating dance. They ran along the water trying to impress their mate. The water was glass except for their footprints. Amazing day that I will never forget. Thanks for bringing that moment back up.

Watching you build your fire makes me remember when I was working with the Boy Scouts. During the Klondike derby the troops had a challenge of building a fire to burn a string 12 inches off the ground. Most troops built it to get a fire hot enough to burn it. But my troop built it to the bottom of the string then started the fire .🔥For me it was the satisfaction of having the leaders in charge of that competition coming to me and saying that in all the years of doing that competition that they never seen a group come up with the method that they did.. I know what you mean Luke. I work in southeast Washington, DC. My family lives far out in a rural area on Maryland's eastern shore. The traffic everyday to and from work can be frustrating at times. The noise in the city is non stop. My wife and I were just out to our favorite local spot by the river. Nearly calm winds. 32°F. Birds everywhere. Two eastern bluebirds landed in a small sapling, about shoulder height, just feet from us as we enjoyed our morning coffee. We saw no fewer than 6 bald eagles within 50- 100 yards, one dropped down and took a fish from the water. What a nice respite after spending 6 days in the house with the worst sinus infection I have ever had. Everyone needs peace and quiet in their live's. Seek it out. It is there.

What I wanted to say was that every time I see you step onto a log when you walk through the woods scared me. Especially when the weather is snowy or wet. I've spent a lot of time in the woods and mountains in my 70 plus years and many of my relatives who have left this world always taught me to never step on a log while hiking, hunting, or just out for a walk. It's real easy to slip, or your foot to slide on a wet or icy, or even a dry log. Like I said, I'm not being critical I'm just wanting to keep you safe. 😂😁 Yep, you hit 41. Those moments in nature are great. Sitting in camp on a jeep adventure, I heard an animal coming up the creek I was by. I just sat there quiet without lights. The animal was walking all around my jeep. I startled it. It ran back into the bushes. Screaming and circling me for 30 minutes lol. Must have been a pissed off momma!
