LBJ Grasslands has some nice dispersed camping. I hunt the grasslands quite frequently and camp there

Thanks for the video. We are out of Central Texas and it never occurred to us to go here. This is a perfect place to introduce new folks to overlanding without scaring them away with crazy off-roading trips.

Thanks for watching! I agree, also a good place to test a new setup at.

Your newest subscriber and fellow TX Vet with OLing ambitions. Glad to see the Grasslands are still available. I've been meaning to get up there to get away.

There was a body found in the lake at the 3 minute mark over 30 years ago, if I remember correctly he had been shot in the back. At least I think that’s the lake, I haven’t been there in over 15 years. There is a lot of area to explore. Some of the higher areas have steep rocky drops and a few very small springs.
@GearUpAndGo232 күн бұрын
Man that's crazy! Thanks for the tip on the high rocky areas, i'll have to check em out.

That's because the majority of land in Texas is privately owned. There are very little free camping areas.

@@thebigempty_5792 True, a lot more free camping options in Oklahoma.

Just 50 miles from DFW. Camping, fishing/hunting, horseback riding, hiking and it is so sparsely used. I dont get it.

Be careful, I have been shot at out there, and there are some grumpy land owners, that will start shooting as well to scare you off. Years back a guy got mad about someone hunting in his spot, and went and shot up the other guys truck.
