Everybody is talking about this horrible incident. Allegedly the same 4-wheeler driving men tried to attack another woman earlier that day but she fought them off successfully. This can and does happen anywhere. I have my big dogs and a Martin 30/30 for security. And I pay attention to my surroundings 24/7. I do not camp in fear, just keep a watch on where I am. As everyone needs to do. ❤❤

I carry my protection also. Someone, actually many someones, tried to get in my truck in the middle of the night once and I was smart enough to have my protection next to my hand and I was able to scare them all of after threatening them. No one should try it at my truck, they won't like the end result of it, I promise. I heard about what happened to this young lady and I am sorry for her. I hope she isn't to traumatized. No solo female traveler, vanlife or other vehicles, should be without their 2nd amendment rights out in the bush. People are crazy. Be safe gf, and keep the rubber side down.

It’s mostly happening to solo women, not men with big dogs. And, for the record, I wouldn’t call someone who maliciously attacks a woman in her car as a “goofball.” I would call them a violent criminal! Keep taking care of your health. Love from Tennessee ❤
@joanies6778
@joanies6778 5 ай бұрын
Agree, Goofball is not what that was by a long shot. He meant damage and harm and likely had watched earlier in the day. She had fairy lights on, and her dog was barking, so it was evident the vehicle was occupied. Awareness and listening to our gut instincts MUST be a priority when travelling and camping alone.

"Glorious life on wheels" posted about the woman who had the rock thrown thru her back window. She was covered with shattered glass. Absolutely horrible. It's good to have such a well trained dog. My past chow knew hand signals and voice command. Once when I was camping some guys came thru my camp and I could hear them talking and rummaging thru my stuff outdoors. My dog was looking at me in our tent and when they approached my tent I whispered "Ok". She started growling, barking and was ready to do damage. Fortunately they took off and I didn't have any other problems. I too hope she is okay.

I survived a home invasion it only happened because they knew my dogs were friendly. When my Sadie was alive they were scared. She was a protector. I just lost my Dog Skylar she was a love bug but she watched over me and my wife like a guardian Angel she was. A dog is a great deterrent. Dogs make everything better. They will give their last breathe for someone they love. Plus they make getting up when you don't feel like it easy. Might notice im all for a dog. Can't think of any reason why not to have a dog.

Good wisdom to keep a vigil on your surroundings. I am a Truck driver and have been for 35 years. Some of the drivers I have come across are running a chain or a cable through the side arm rests of there rigs and padlocking the two doors after meeting in the middle with two separate chains or cables. And also of someone having a key to it as well. Some of the cities I have delivered to were pretty sketchy. You know this by the customer coming in the next morning and with a wide eyed look and asking you "Did you really go to sleep in this neighborhood"?

I drove long-haul for 5 years... One of the things that really got me taking extra security measures was learning that the model of tractor my company was using only had like 5 or 6 different keys for EVERY tractor of that type in the whole darned country! Meaning that if someone wanted to collect all 6 of those keys, they were able to get into any tractor of that model. That's not safe for any driver - male or female.

I remember from another KZbinr last year who was a solo female car camper, she wasnt camped near anyone and she was on the Southside of Quartzite. This bloke appeared on a motorbike and said he had been watching her through his binoculars, she made out that she was meeting friends and after he went, she packed up her camp and moved closer to others who were camped. Nowhere in the world is safe these days and if you are a solo female traveller, you need to keep your wits about you.

I recall that story a bit differently, if you are talking about the viral video by Alyssa Vanilla back when she had the Astro/Safari van. She had video of the whole incident, which happened in two visits to her camp by the guy. Of all the nomad videos I've seen, it was by far the scariest. Really made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. The guy was standing there a few feet from her, basically talking to her through her completely open van side door, deciding if he could get away with attacking her, and it took him quite a while to decide she was not as easy a target as he had hoped. His story was that he had SOMEONE ELSE had been watching her and others through binoculars, and offering bottled water to women. So, claimed he was checking up on her, to warn her. Then the guy offers her water. That's when she was sure his story was a complete lie, and he was the guy watching her.

@@ThatGirlLib I know she does. An assailant 50 feet from me, would be dead before reaching me, every time. One 4 feet from me, unless the weapon is already in my hand, could turn it into hand to hand combat, a struggle over who controls the weapon, as often as not. She was cornered and in a very, very dangerous situation, armed or not. He was on his feet, she wasn't. Right there, is why she'd likely lose. She did the right thing to not reach for a weapon unless absolutely out of options for talking her way out of the situation. She won the standoff. Her chance of winning the battle was a coin flip at best. Worse if the guy had any fighting skills. I'm glad she got out of the second encounter unharmed, because she did make a big mistake not leaving after the first encounter. That's not a criticism, it's just a fact that we all make mistakes, and don't have crystal balls.

To the women out there who are feeling unsure...you can do this. I stayed in a national forest and truck stop/travel centers as well. My advise is follow your gut instincts. That will serve you well. As David said, some scouting around goes a long way. If I don't feel good about a place, I move on. Most people are kind and want to help. You will find those people if you look for them. Later that season I purchased protection and spent a lot of time at the range training. I've always tried to be aware of my surroundings for safety reasons & listen to my gut, but somethings you can't anticipate such as what happened to the woman at La Posa South LTVA did. I feel that the Quartzsite area has all the weaknesses of the California's the Washington's and the Oregon's... mild winter, free camping and a super busy interstate. I think quartzite is special in this regard because at its peak population, it is comprised mostly of people who do not need to be told the difference between right and wrong. Unfortunately the other woman’s dog woke her up, and the rock came through the window. Police are asking for anyone that have footage of the suspect to contact the police. Knowing your surroundings, making friends with those around you. Having cameras, ring, game cameras, dash cams, etc. Have an idea of how you will protect yourself now, and practice. Listen to you gut also.

The scumbags threw a giant boulder through her rear car window while she was sleeping inside. laying with her head to the front and feet near the trunk. She had glass all over her body and got cut from some of the glass shards. Pretty messed up. Stuff like that will make you want to sleep with a rifle nearby. This is why you carry a firearm if you live in a country where it is legal to do so. Don’t make yourself a victim (even though I’d argue to still carry one if it’s not legal, but I’m not a lawyer and don’t take that as good advice that’s just personal opinion)

Loving the intros !! music scenery and Lefty 🐶💕 I just adore his antics 😂 Considering that roughly a million people camp out there, I think one minor incident is pretty darn good. I’m sorry for her of course, and yes it was a little wake up call. It’s easy to let your guard down when you see all the great videos from good people like you. Over the years I’ve had belongings stolen right off my rig, didn’t matter what I was driving. They could be on the road with ya waiting for you to take a pit stop and have tools to take what they want. My view is my family has never been hurt, everything is replaceable. Great video 👍

Amazon sells several mil thick clear window covering that allows you to protect your glass from shattering while allowing you absolutely 100% clear vision for the driver or occupants inside whether it is in your home or your vehicle. Whoever carries out criminal activity is a criminal. Goofballs are people who do silly things. What those people did to this woman and her vehicle will leave her with a huge hump of fear to overcome and move forward. She did nothing to warrant that behavior. Criminals that need to be held accountable. When criminals do something like this and are in a group it is very easy to switch to doing further damage and to take it up a notch. She was fortunate that nobody tried to remover her from her car and do more damage to her person. Not goofballs!

There is a product made for window safety & protection. It's 3m Window Film for cars or homes. Install it on the inside of your windows, it was created for hurricane protection from flying debris. But it also protects from someone hitting your window with a hammer. The window will crack into pieces but it stays in place. Comes in clear to blackout shades. It's important to install it correctly, not hard just need to be a perfectionist.

I watched an unfamiliar (to me) KZbinr who covered this. It sounded like it was more than simple vandalism. The woman sustained cuts from the shattered back windshield. To me that would be an assault. Anyway, I hope the person/people are caught, I'm sure that would help some folks peace of mind.

It's unfortunate that the vandalism occurred. The thoughtless actions of a few can affect alot of folks. Security measures only go so far when nefarious actors are bent on destruction or theft. Won't dissuade me from hitting the road in fall. Things happen wherever people are. Your video and other videos have been very enlightening and helpful to me. Following your Spidey senses is a good thing. Sincerely hope your health issue is not serious.

I laid in bed and sweat for two nights. I didn’t have pain but I was just soaken wet in the morning. I decided to go to ER. Turned out my gallbladder was infected and I was septic. They put a tube in to drain my gallbladder for a few weeks before they removed it. Don’t wait to long. Being septic is no joke. That was worse than the gallbladder problem. You’re going to have to have it removed and hopefully you can pick the date rather than it being a emergency. Good luck

@@KARW37 I’m sorry for your loss. Yes it is serious. I was in the hospital a few days with IV antibiotics that made me so sick. I guess I was ignorant about some health issues. I had no idea a internal organ could get infected. I should have gone to ER sooner. I just thought it would go away. I really didn’t have pain. My only symptom was sweating thru the night. Not a normal sweat but I soaked thru my clothes and sheets. The strange part is my temp was low at ER. I won’t ignore strange symptoms again.

Goofballs? That's an awfully nice way to classify people who are harming others. Throwing a rock through someone's home in the middle of the night is more than just a goofball. That really minimizes the incident of such a violent and mean act.

Firstly, the atv showed up at like 2am... You'd have to be up to no good to drive into anyone's camp with a loud vehicle at that time of night. Secondly, the rock they launched was bigger than a brick - not just a random small thing that would get kicked up by a tire. No, these guys were just bad news.
