I so agree that sometimes solo hiking can be exactly what you need to just relax and de-stress. I also love this time of year too before the mosquitos arrive.

Solo hiking has been good to us both. I'm glad you get to enjoy that too. I'm afraid the mosquitoes are starting up now, about 10 days later...might have to get out my bug shirt for today's hike...we're camping this week. Thanks for watching!

Dear Kathleen: You added a new meaning to the hiking solo activity. Thank you. I have been doing these solo walkings since I retired. Your weekly program is the incentive to continue it while I am still able to do it. Grateful that you share knowledge, expertise and guidance. I appreciate it. Luis

Thank you Luis. It means a lot that you are getting so much enjoyment for these videos. Good to hear that you too enjoy solo hiking. It's the perfect time to be one with nature. I too, took it up regularly once I hit retirement almost 4 years ago. Great way to stay active and be in the moment. Thank you so much for watching and for writing.

Just when I think it's impossible to outdo previous videos, you make another over-the-top! Breathtaking scenery, wildlife, drone footage, camera angles, narrating, etc. Shannon made the perfect selections with the music. It's nice to remember our Moms who gave so much to help shape our growing years to equip us to then make a life of our own in the world. Blessings!

Thank you Richard for your thoughtful kind compliments. I'm delighted you enjoyed this video so much. I loved using the drone...it provides such a beautiful viewpoint along the trails and from above. I'm delighted you loved it too! Thank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback with Shannon and myself.

Good Morning Claudi, so glad it left you feeling like you were there! Yes, a beautiful flight through and over the woods using my drone. I love the smooth look of that footage too. Thanks for your kind comments.

Such a pretty walk today, you caught some lovely birds. Loved the shot of the Blue Herron grabbing the little fish, wow! There is something especially hard on us about losing our mom. I think of my mom every day. Happy Mother's Day to Shannon and yourself. I hope you don't get eaten too much from the forthcoming black flies and mosquitos. I'll be starting my summer adventure in a couple weeks , looking forward to it! (so if my comments are sparse thru the summer, I'll look forward to catching up on your videos when I have wifi again). Happy hiking and camping! PS what kind of drone do you have?

Thanks for your kind comments Jean. Yes, I often think of my Mom...and see that you do as well. Thank you for the Mother's Day well wishes. I loved that private property hike. So beautiful at ground level and through the eyes of the drone. Mine is the DJI Avata. Love it!!! Glad to hear that your summer adventures are coming up. Are you heading back to ON? We're camping this week on Lake Huron and in a couple of weeks, we're heading to Eastern ON for awhile. Enjoy your summer getaway.

I really enjoyed this video. I live in BC and have been solo hiking for 46 years. I tend to see more when I hike alone. Although not for everyone, I have done a lot of solo bushwhacking and backpacking however one does not have to do anything strenuous to enjoy the outdoors.

Thanks for your kind comments Ron. Wow, to hike in BC would be amazing! We will be exploring a small part of your beautiful province in the fall, but as part of another trip so no camping. We hope to head back from ON to BC by travel trailer in a few years on a long journey taking our time to explore. We headed east to Newfoundland 2 years ago and loved that trip! 46 years is a lot of experience under your belt. Great to hear how you love solo hiking too. Great to just be immersed in it. Thanks for watching Ron.

@@HikingWithKathleen I hope you do manage to drive from Ontario to BC in the future. I drove across Canada from Vancouver to St. Johns NFLD in the year 2000 when the gas was cheaper than today. I took one month to do it and mostly took secondary roads rather than the Trans Canada Hwy because there is a lot more to see. It was the greatest road/camping trip I've ever done. I really enjoyed Ontario and NFLD.
@HikingWithKathleen4 ай бұрын
Wow, that's ambitious to have driven across our beautiful country but richly rewarding. You raised great points about taking secondary highways. Thanks!

Judy, I'm so happy that you have been enjoying my videos and hikes in the woods. I find that I enjoy hiking the most when I do it alone and the reason for that is that I hike as briskly or as slowly as I wish, to linger in places where I enjoy wildlife sightings. When hiking with others, the temptation is to talk with each other, leading to missing a lot of the peace, solitude and beauty that is otherwise there for our enjoyment. I hope you give that a try...it will be very fulfilling - I promise you that.

The opening shot along the path accompanied by the nice piano piece was very captivating. Was that your drone?! Great nature shots as usual. Your videos keep achieving new benchmarks. Thanks again for another mention. I genuinely enjoy your content and look forward to watching each week. Keep up the great work, both of you. 👌👍

Thank you for your specific feedback Daryl. Yes, I sent it my drone. I love the smooth emersive feel of flying eye level with the drone, as well as overhead shots too. It felt great reading your feedback about having achieved new benchmarks especially since I know you've been following for about a year since our camping season began last year. That meant a lot Daryl. Thanks sincerely and thanks for following along.

Your drone skills are really impressive. Beautiful work. I have one but still terrified to fly it through woods...actually to fly it anywhere. LOL. My daughter crashed hers high up into a tree at Backus Woods a couple months ago. It's still there. 8{
@HikingWithKathleen4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Deb. I have had my DJI Avata for a year now. The first time, I took it to a friend's farm to fly it over open fields and set low limits to its altitude and distance from me. I have only recently increased them so I too, wouldn't lose it. Next, I usually fly it slow. The resulting footage is more pleasing to the eye and reduces greatly the risk of crashing it. My favourite flights are through a forest along a trail or creek to give the viewer the feel of buttery smooth footage while enjoying the trail. I hope you give yours a try. It's hard to find places to fly it. Do you have a drone requiring a pilot certificate? I do and must adhere to the guidelines. There are Cdn government tools to use to locate where you can fly. I'm away camping now so can't look it up from my bookmarks. Anyway, thanks for watching. Hope your daughter's drone can be recovered at Backus Mill!
