Beautiful place, so different from what I'm used to (TREES!). Looks like a great hut system. Thanks for sharing this!

It's definitely a different experience without the woods. Lucky that I had the huts to make food and dry off!

Thanks, it was! Such nice hiking there and on the turn of the season it wasn’t so busy. So satisfying to get to the boat on your way out and have that huge buffet meal.

That is awesome. My family heritage is from Estonia..where I have spent some time. They all talk about amazing fishing trips in Finland. They don't quite make it as far as Lapland....but man it is an area I've always wanted to check out. Got to love the saunas!

I'v always wanted to head to Estonia, it seems like a great place. Unfortunately I am never in the area long enough to explore properly! Such an easy boat ride as well!
@21Swayzee7 жыл бұрын
Definitely an easy boat ride. I really like the Island of Sarreemma..my grandparents are from that area. Beautiful beaches... kind of reminds me of St. Joseph Island, just outside of the Sault.

Looks like you had a great time. Finland is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Be glad you went there in late summer. The mosquitoes there can be REALLY annoying! :-D By the way, have you been to Norway? I walked Norway lenghtwise a few years back. I´m working on a movie of it. It will take you through most of Norway´s national parks. Hopefully I will have it done in january 2019.

how does one book this trail? do you just rock up or is there a website?
@wannabewoodsmen76226 жыл бұрын
Hey Lewis, open huts are walk up and free to use! But there is an etiquette rule when they fill up. If there is no room in the hut and someone arrives, they have the right to stay in the hut and the first people to have arrived must move outside. I told the front desk where I was going, make sure to book the Sauna it was the best part of the trip. For the reservable huts you can reserve them at the visitors centre and you may be able to call ahead. "There are three reservable wilderness huts in the Pallas area. Beds must be reserved in advance. Reservations for the Pallas huts can be made at Pallastunturi Visitor Centre. Keys can be picked up from Pallastunturi Visitor Centre or Fell Lapland Visitor Centre. Bed places cost 11 euros a person/night" www.nationalparks.fi/pallas-yllastunturinp/services
